Mention it! I'd dump the two tyre on the reception desk and say "now tell me theres no flipping problem with the rear set up!" I spoke to my mate whos a master tech (at Frauds) today and his first response was " somethings f*cked on the back!" Once they sort it out then dump the bill for the new tyres on them aswell.

they have already seen the rear tyres. they blamed it on front alignment (when the front ones were perfect). whatever

know its an old thread, but didnt seem like you get a fix? It not the tyres fault though for definate, so you will see the problem again in 10k

did they check the camber? that looks like camber wear not toe, thoough since its a torsion bar rear you shouldnt really get camber wear? It should ahve some negative camber, but not enough to do that, even -2 with toe would take a while to kill em.

if its help these are fords specs, ask to see measurements against all of these, unless they can do so they havent checked it all properly. Keep on at em as its 100% a mechanical issue with your car!

front toe: +00.09 (tolerance +00.04 to +00.14)
front camber: -00.44 (-02.07 to +00.39)
caster: +03.25 (+02.18 to +04.32)
rear toe: +00.16 (+00.05 to +00.25)
rear camber: -01.02(-02.18 to +00.13)

16" rims
front toe +1.1mm (tolerance +0.5mm to +1.6mm)
rear toe +1.8mm (+0.7mm to +3.0mm)

17" rims
front toe +1.1mm (+0.5mm to +1.7mm)
rear toe +2.0mm (+0.8mm to 3.2mm)

eddiesi, thanks for these values, they are most interesting. I assume the first set of values is in degrees right?

But what makes me laugh is the tolerances they give!

Quote:

rear camber: -01.02(-02.18 to +00.13)

They don't half cover their ar55es with such big tolerances... No wonder Amanda's car comes back with an "everything is fine" message, even if it has a negative camber at 2 degrees (-2) it's within the bloomin' tolerances but it does not take a scientist to even predict it will wear tires on the inside! It's ridiculous for heaven's sake!

RS team goes to great lengths refining the handling of this car and then someone at Ford gives the green light to publish camber and toe-in tolerances for the rear (let alone for the front) that actually allow differences on BOTH sides of 0! No wonder that different people are having very different handling experiences with their cars. Now I understand why some people say their ST is very tail happy...

I think that with these values eddiesi has hit the nail on the head. I'd ask to see the actual measured values on the car and compare them against these - look no further!

well i got new tyres on so we will see in 10k. they wouldnt chek anything other than the alignment which they said was lightly out so as far as they were corncerned that was it - how i know different. but cos they thought theyd found the solution they wouldnt do anymore. even though the question is: is the wear is down to alignment, why were the front tyres in good condition - surely if it was alignment it would be the front that went and not the back as you can align rear tyres. however its done now so i always check my tyres and the first sign of uneven wear on the back, its going into the garage
