Hi: Zetec S Or ST?

I'm new here, so firstly, hello!
I currently own a 62 plate Zetec S. I have the car on finance and have nearly had it a year now. I was planning to keep it a little while longer but I am convinced that this car is cursed as I have not had the best of luck with it in just under a year, therefore I want to chop it in as soon as I can.
However, I'm torn between another Zetec S or the ST... The ST really pushes my buttons but it is pricey, however, the new 1.0 engine in the ZS leaves me skeptical. Also, somehow, it just doesn't look as sporty as the pre-facelift Fiesta.
My question is, I'm assuming a lot of people here have the ST on finance, I don't particularly want to pay anymore than £200 per month, so how much of a deposit did people put down? Sorry if that's a bit of a cheeky question!
Thanks

Hi there, I put down £1000 plus £2500 part chop for my mum's focus 56 plate. When my ST-2 arrives I'm paying £198 pm

Hi, thanks for the swift replies!
Addo, that sounds really good, especially for the ST2. What term contract is that on?
BlondeBex, yeah, I really want to get rid of my current car and I love the ST. I just wish they did it in candy blue - the restrictions on the colours are ridiculous.

Hi, RobIsTheStig, I will hopefully test drive both. Funny you mention the wheels, I'm not keen on the new ZS wheels - I think the old ones look much nicer. The new ones don't look like they are 17" somehow? Having said that, I'm not keen on the ST style pack "grey" wheels either, I think they look better as standard.

Ha, I did consider that, RITS. Take it you're not so much a fan of the ST then?
Thanks for getting back to me, Addo. Finding a branch that actually has an ST available for test drive appears to be a mission in itself. I wonder whether its just worth visiting a few branches to see if they can give me some figures first.

hi welcome along am not clear on which ST your after, Mk6's are cheap as chips now, the new one is nice and handles far better than the old one but lacks ooomph and needs the MT kit. You could get a MK7 Zetec S which are quick and even add an MT kit to that.

Ha, yes it is the new ST I would ideally like.
I popped to a dealer today and had a proper look at the new ST (which wasn't available for a test drive curiously). However, their service was dire and didn't even have time to talk to me about figures so I walked out. My local Ford dealer is notoriously rubbish too which is frustrating.
I contacted the dealer where I got my first Fiesta (Zetec) from and they are going to call me in the week for an appointment and test drive for both the ZS and the ST, although I'm slowly setting my heart on a Spirit Blue ST now. Fingers crossed!
