i get 280 miles and about 29-30mpg from my fiesta MR200, tuned as far as you can go without forging the engine

Good choice. Obviously get the best example you can afford, if your budget stretches try getting a facelift one as it has the better dash and trip computer! Lower millage obviously better, one thats got fsh and the little amount of owners the better!

Get the best condition that your budget can get that's what I did, mine was older than most models but immaculate in every way when I bought her and that was more important to me

Pretty much this!
Make sure you have a proper look down all the panels for dents etc, i thought i did until a couple days after i noticed 5 quite bad dings and very nearly put it up for sale after just two weeks of owning it!
3 years later i still have it so i obviously loved it enough
