sxkopite do you know anyone around chelmsford who can tint my windows for a good deal ?

Been about 6 years since any of my mates got aftermarket tints in Chelmsford Your better off trying to get the original tinted glass. It'll be a better quality. Film tints have a habit of turning awful if they're poorly done.

MR200 from standard will probably set u back 3.5k what with parts and labour. Massive job doing it in one go. Supercharging (properly) will cost almost double that I think

Mountune can supply their race engines for road cars. No one on here has done that yet so you'd be unique if you went down that route

no thats fine mate the more people see it the better haha,
i didnt know you could get mountune on finance ? if so that would be easier but still looking at trying what i can to make it unique, i know not many have the mr200 but tbh it sounds like you end up paying half the money just for labour and the badge ?
considering its a N/A car any performance parts but a turbo or supercharger isnt going to make a massive difference surley, so that 3.5 k spent only gets 50 bhp, where as if you bought a turbo diesel then remapped it and got an induction kit that has the same effect for 3 grand less lol

This is very true but it does make a massive differnece to the speed. Would you really want a chug chug?

had a look around and the best value for money i could find was a powertec SL1 kit i found on POTN.com...
91.99 free postage and free cold air feed (not that it matters)
just got a bit of a wait as they didnt have any in stock !

had a chat with the guy about all of the inductions
just by the tone of his voice i could hear he doesnt reccomend K&N atall anymore
apparently there like the ralph lauren of the induction world, charging silly prices for a product that does nothing more than any of the others in fact it actually performs less...

how they expect anyone to pay £200 for a induction on a N/A car is beyond me ! especially since the K&N looks so unnactractive ! i know not eveyone is flashing there engine bays but still

anyways im very happy with my choice and will put up pics of before and after and some vids aswell incase anyone was like me and undecisive but also wanted the best value for money

p.s sorting my pay pal account today so should be a member before the end of the day

We did have a little debate about inductions a while ago. I found somthing saying the ITG was the best for letting more airflow through, we did decide that a little restriction is good and that is why the K&N was the best performer. I think its marginal either way.

without a turbo or supercharger its like what 2bhp gain if that ! so power wise it does nothing... i heard powertec was one of the nicest sounding and personally the best looking one so i guess its down to personal preferance...
its all well having a enclosed unit aswell but without the other parts a induction kit isnt doing much but giving clean air... i personally am not willing to pay £50-100 quid more for something the powertec does just because its become popular....
K&N have realised that there name has got around especially with ST users as the 1.4 td K&N ive seen going for 100 quid ! yet they want an extra 60 quid because of the ST badge ? i dont think so lol

I understand where you're coming from in terms of bhp/£ in some sense, but you need to understand the characteristics of how engines behave in sense.

You may only get 50bhp for 3k spent at mountune, but having been out in one i think personally you would be lucky to do better for less on the duratec engine in the fiesta, especially when considering that it is a ford manufactures approved modification is VERY hard to do.

Alot of the money goes into the labour that it takes to design, manufacture and building the parts for the cars, hence why you might think its expensive, when you actually break the costs down to each bit you can see where your money has gone into making it right.

You can always buy cheap by all means, but you'll be buying twice when it turns out its some crappy chinese made bit rather than something thats been done from scratch here in blight

Turbo engines obviously will get greater performance gains for less money, thats always the way with forced induction, but some people prefer an N/A engine just because of how it acts and reacts.
Plenty of people have s/c'd or turbo'd an ST, but you do hear of alot of them having reliability issues further down the line just because the engine with standard internals is simply on the edge of what its capable of handling. Things can get very expensive very quickly if you're chasing big power!

Thats my views on it anyway, i love my engine for what it does and thats why people buy them and keep them that way

Hope that helps

i was actually going more down the route of swappin the whole block.. a block with a turbo already fitted a lets be honest the duratec 2.0 isnt the best of engines !
but i do agree i do love it the way it is !
just personally if i was going to spend a couple K then i would save that money and put it towards a evo or something simular for my next car...

im a little unsure why you have bought an ST reading through, everything your saying is you dont like N/A cars and they are expensive to tune and the 2l duratec is a crap engine!?
why do you say that? because it is now 12 years old and isnt pushing as much power as some 1.4 turbo engines? does that make the 2l zetec in a mk1 rs crap because it only has 212bhp standard? and you cant safely go past 250bhp without proper engine work?

N/A is always more expensive to tune up but its proper tuning, sticking forced induction on is cheating in my eyes.

if you want to supercharge the ST your looking at 12K to make it reliable, i looked into it when i had my old ST.

with both ST's i have done over 80k and the only thing to go wrong with either of them was a couple of weeks ago when a CV boot split.

and my car is probably one of the hardest driven on the site, when i get on track i dont do anything by half,

i mean a day at snetterton i used a full set of tyres from new to barely legal on the way home and a set of pads from new to old, revving to 7400rpm on every change and a tank of fuel in 86 miles
