Hi guys,

Every now and again when I unlock my ST (using the remote key), the car starts chiming (audibly from the outside). It keeps going until I hit the unlock button again. (I've not let it go longer than 5 seconds or so, don't want the alarm to go off.) The closest reference to this I can find in the manual is page 78 (Locks (security)), where it says:

Quote:

Model variant ST
[...]
To deactivate with a non-remote key, open the driver's door with the mechanical key. This starts a 12-second delay chime before the alarm sounds. During this period the alarm system can be deactivated by turning the key in the ignition to position II.

But I'm not trying to open the door with a mechanical key, I'm using the remote!

Has anyone experienced the same thing?
Any help appreciated!

Cheers,
Alex

That beeping IS the alarm.

This seems quite a common problem with the facelift model, happened to me once or twice, not that bothered by it though.

It is supposed to inform you that your alarm has gone off while you were away from your car. I spoke to a dealer about this as it has happened quite a lot with mine and he said that the alarm is so sensetive that even if a door is not closed 100% properley it will go off. I dont like slamming doors so I've always been one to close them quite gently and that turns out to be the problem. You don't need to slam it as though you are trying to put the door out through the other side just close it a litle bit harder than you normally would and that seems to have solved the problem with it. Seems silly but it has worked for mine.

Well closing the doors a little more firmly certainly seems like a solution I can try! Cheers
