Hopefully either Scott or Chris will come along soon and say if it can be done. I've edited that post for you and I think what I have written is correct. Let me know if you want it updated again.

You should now be able to go and edit in meets/events for an unlimited amount of time. Let me know if there are any problems.

You can edit your own threads/posts. Obviously only things you post, rather than editing anyone else's posts/comments. You should have access to edit on project threads.

was wanting to update my member write up, but can't edit it

so as requested by Dan initially...

is there any chance that editing can be allowed on the original post (first post of a thread) for all time?

In addition to this, give a time limit after posting where we can delete posts - too many times I've double posted, gone to delete the duplicate to be told I can't.

Editing is a necessity!

Steve - They are held in an Archive to try and prevent vandalism. Everything else is editable.

This is absolutely fine. I've already included this in the majority of sections. What sections are you having a problem with and I'll sort it out?

but surely the person who wrote it can edit their own writeup?
you don't trust someone to keep their own writeup intact?

I've had a good look through the setttings and I can't find any that don't allow you to edit for four hours afterwards, as they always have done. Unless you haven't spotted that you've double posted until sometime afterwards then I'm a bit stumped. confused

It's straight away, couldn't tell you where it was at the moment until it happens again. I post, go back, can't remember if I actually posted or not so submitted it again, realised I double posted, click Edit then Delete and it tells me I can't.

Steve... it a decision to try and keep the data as historical reference. Over the years many people have tried to delete loads of data off the site. It would make it messy and possibly good information would be lost.

If it really is causing you some distress then I shall enable editing on that section.

I've tried to catch as many user related issues as possible but obviously haven't caught them all just yet. If you find any problems, post up the thread/issue and i'll sort it.

distress is not the right word for this Scotty
It's just annoying that if I want to update my writeup, I can't do it myself and have to write a separate post and get a mod to add it to the opening post

I've removed the Archive from the thread title and enabled infinite editing. Please can you guys check if you can edit? If there are problems please let me know.
