How do I remove sticky residue from my dash without making it worse or discolouring the plastic?

The previous owner stuck a phone holder to the dash, and it looked terrible.

I have pulled off the holder, and removed the sticky rubber, but there is a bit of sticky residue left.

What should I use to remove this? Any help much appreciated.

I've used white spirit to remove this kind of residue before. Just get a cotton bud or something similar and wipe it gently over the sticky part. After doing this wie with a clean cloth. Slightly watered down nail varnish remover if you havnt got any white spirit.

Thanks but I was worried that something like that would discolour the plastic ?

You can use pre-paint/pannel wipe. Dose no damage to the car. can get it from places like B&Q. We use it at work for getting sticky labels off stainless.

Trust me I wouldnt have mentioned it is I thought it would mark your dashboard!

Used White Spirit, and it worked a treat.

You wouldn't even know that anything was ever stuck to the dash.
