Just wondering if anyone has fitted the SL1 induction kit sold on torquesteer.
I dont have my ST yet but it sounds good.
If anyone does have it, does it improve performance in any way, and does it (as it says) make the engine sound more "throaty".

Further to this, does anyone know what the difference is between the K&N 57i induction kit, and the Powertec SL1 induction kit? Is one better that the other?

Thanks

I would say that the 57i is a little bit quieter, and hangs down lower in the engine bay to get more air, the sl1 is attached to a polished pipe and cannot be adjusted, you will have to buy flexi pipe for the cold air intake, the 57i comes with it.

Having used K&N air filters on a few cars, i have to say i have never had any complaints. The 57i is the way to go

i thought the powertec came "all in" if you will. like you dont need anything else to fit it correctly?

The only difference between the powertec sl1 kit and the k&n is that the powertec is stainless steel and the k&n is cotton gauze. the steel offers better airflow but the cotton apparantly filters slightly better.

personally I ditched my powertec because i wanted to go enclosed in the form of my bmc kit.

Of the 2 I would go Powertek because it look s so much nicer and its lower maintainance (i.e. no oiling needed) and it has better airflow

P.S. Fordie, you dont need anything extra to fit the powertec other than a screwdriver. All is provided for your convienience. And get it from ESP design it s cheaper than anywhere else I think.

I got my SL1 from esp and it didnt come with any cold feed flexi pipes, just the filter unit attached to the steel pipe.

Part number on the box PT 12-35. if you remove your airbox you will also need to buy a crankcase breather filter about £10 as there is no vent breather stub on the SL1 filter like there is on the k&n.

yes miniman1, you are correct, i dont think a cold air feed really does much, i didnt notice any difference at all. I got a crankcase breather but you dont neccesarily need one if you leave the airbox on.

You dont need anything extra other than a screwdriver to fit a K&N too :P The cones are pre oiled and strictly speaking (according to K&N) only need cleaning and re oiling every 50,000 miles.

(I was bored so I cleaned mine *lol*)
