WMP10 XP, refusing to transfer my music files to my MP3 player.

My XP and thus updates too for WMP are well out of date as I have switched off auto update when I was rebuilding PC so now it takes for ever to search for what it needs and downloads, so thats why I switched it off.

Error message is "A null reference pointer was passed to the stub."

I can ok the message but still will not sync, no reason why not should just transfer, nothing to do with updates.

try copy and paste the files manually? from their folder to the mp3 player?

any better software around for doing this rather than relying microsoft, just simple transferring software that will read my hard drive for music and transfer to external player ?

Get an iPod, use iTunes, job done

I read that you can try to install windows media player 9 instead. maybe that will work

an idea yea, used to work just fine guessing am missing some updates, might try and let it update. I've copied and pasted for now and that works fine just bit of hassle to do.

That's great yes and can be annoying keeping track of wich songs that you have copied and wich not.
another possibility is to scrap your mp3player and get spotify on your phone cost 10£ a month or something.

Definitely do your updates - and definitely consider upgrading to Windows 7 - sooner rather than later.

On April 8th, Microsoft are stopping support for Windows XP outrightly - that means no more security updates, at all.

Any security vulnerabilities will not be patched after then, which means your PC becomes a huge security risk - especially if malware or viruses take advantage of these unpatched vulnerabilities (has happened before with Windows 98!).

I know people like Windows XP, but it's 13 years old now, Windows 7 is a perfect replacement for it.

I've done an update on media player and now it works perfectly.
I have laptop with W7.
