Couple of problems that have suddenly appeared recently

- Car randomly lacks power. Every now and then the car stutters either from a standing start or if the cars moving (and no it's not in the wrong gear! ) Foot to the floor and the car will splutter/drag then all of a sudden the power kicks in and your accelerating again. Happened in every gear so far. Problem is I've taken it to the Ford dealer who ran tests, and a test drive and found no issues at all. Been happening for a couple of months now and its hard to recreate the fault as its so random.
Any ideas, been told this maybe an electrical fault?

- CD player. when I either start the car up, or turn it off, the CD (non-copy) in the CD player makes a loud clicking noise for around 10 seconds, according to the dealer this is normal?! They said its to do with the CD reader/header spinning the CD to read it

Any ideas?

I had a similar stuttering problem with my Ford Ka, but I took it to Ford and they fixed it by reprograming the engine management unit, or something like that. But I presume as you've taken it to Ford already, they will have checked that! Sorry, not much help am I

No idea about the CD player!

There are quite a few factors regarding causes to loss of power in a car. Hot weather and the fuel grade being a couple. What fuel grade are you using and were your problems occuring during the hotter weather?

Re your CD player that doesn't sound right to me and doesn't happen with mine. My brother has taken his ford ka in to the garage today to have his cd player fixed as it click and jumps on any cd you put in. Tell the garage you know of other people who have had this problem and it has been fixed.

Do you have a prefacelift or a facelift ST?

The CD player in my Corsa did the whole ticking thing, its definately not normal. I took it back and got a replacement under warenty, if one dealership won't give you what you want try another just to get a second opinion.

It sounds like a cold engine, could it be?

I have used BP ultimate from day 1 ,with no probs, but when i went on the Cornwall meet i had to use normal unleaded from Morrisons e.t.c. (cheap stuff) as there were no BP garages at hand. After a few miles my started 'pinking' and coughing terrible, and it was really hot.
As soon as i filled up with the good stuff after getting home, it's been fine. What have you been using? if it's been good fuel, there is definately something wrong and i would take the advice from Mase and bigboy benji, and have another Ford dealer look at it, and explaining that you have heard of the same problem from other owners.
One other thought. When it happened did you have the air con on because this does have a big power drain. This along with fuel and weather conditions may be the answer.

Prefacelift - problems been happening in rain and sun - the fuels been BP mostly, I've left it to run down when its stuttered, then swapped fuel suppliers only to get the same thing - car is usually warm when it happens, like on the motorway trying to overtake - not had AC on at all when happened.

My ST has now developed the same problem. Since yesterday it has got no power to accelerate, especially in 2nd and 3rd gear and the engine feels lumpy and stuttery. The car generally just feels guttless now. My old 1.3i KA was faster than this thing is now. Nearly ended up with a boot decoration because of it, pulled out at a junction in front of someone and it just would not go anywhere!! I've just about had enough of ford! The fact that the car was dented and scratched badly when i collected it from the garage pi**ed me off but this has really wound me up now. I've only had the car 3 and a half weeks!! Tempted just to ask for a refund and get something else

Took my car in to a garage about the loss of power and acceleration and they have said that it is a small electrical component from the ECU that has gone which causes it to misfire and loose power. Replacing it under warranty so hopefully should put it back to rights.

Can you ask them to detail exactly what the part is that has gone down and the finis code/part number of the component please so that I can take it to my dealer to get sorted.
Also can you ask them if it was flagging a fault code that led them to that conclusion or did they find it from "knowing what they're doing" so to say! Thanks
