save a bit for cams and then remap at the same time? youd notice a decent difference then if your happy to wait

I suppose the Dreamscience one would be ok for £200. Is that one that they send to you?
Although, I would rather have one that's specific to my car if possible.

My mods are induction kit and full exhaust. (and a 60mm TB)

you don't need one

I'd hate to be the one to say this, but how can you say a car doesn't need one?

I'd say that if it was a standard N/A car, but not when your car has has a decent amount of mods done to it, you'd like to have them all working well together?

My cars now 30bhp above standard with the exact same mods and a remap, i can safely say this now the car wouldn't be making that power without a map, thats a fact.

I will agree with you on the service, but thats something you get done every year, every 3 years for a C service, it made a considerable amount of difference between the runs i've done in comparison.

Nothing to do with the car runnning bad. I change the oil and clean the k+n every 12 months. (k+n really needs doing)
Had the plugs changed a few yrs ago, they're iridium I think. Coil pack and leads could probably do with replacing.
But these are all serviceable items anyway, it's not a situation of either service or remap.
Mountune does a 'revised engine calibration' with the 165 kit, which basically has the same mods I have.

Wouldn't mind cams, but that's another big lump of money... And will it make the fuel economy rubbish? Pumaspeed says they are easy DIY fit, but they say that about everything.
Maybe I'd regret it if I didn't do it though. :hmmm:

I'd probably just leave it as it is now, but the fact that I've spent almost a grand on the exhaust makes me think another £250 on a custom map to get the best out of it isn't much at all.

Actually... fk it, I will wait until I've thought more about cams and then possibly an inlet manifold. lol

If your not sure about further mods then definitely wait! Your car will run ok for time being while your deciding on further mods which will need a map anyway so you cant lose effectively happy cams will hurt your mpg but only because youll be enjoying them so much!

Id get the generic map for the mean time then save up for inlet, cams and custom map.

I'm wondering which spec cams the MP185 kit uses. Is it the Piper fast road cam with 260° inlet, 244° exhaust?

Looking at the mountune curves, and the only difference between the 165 and 185 kits being cams (plus springs)... the extra power from cams happens above 5.5k rpm. The torque of the MP185 below 4.5k is less than the MP165, and only gives an improvement above 5500rpm. 0-60 time improves by 0.1s, 0-100 time by 3.8s

So the extra power from cams is more towards the top end with a loss in low-down torque? And in general driving below 4500 it will pull less than before? It's good that it has power right up to 7000 rpm, but the loss in low-down torque... not sure about that.

Yes Mountune use piper cams. The 185 has a loss of torque, they made their inlet mani to cure this issue. Its not just Mountune with the loss of torque it would be any cams. The 60mm tb helps a bit for low down punch which the 185 doesn't have happy

always a trade off. 185 though was nice and quiet low down, then lots of tunes when you gunned it, 165 was much livelier but more in cabin buzz all the time, sometimes miss my 185
