Hi guys

How do you reset the mk6 ecu? I keep reading about it on here.

What are the benefits or draw backs?

Thanks

Disconnected the battery and leave over night then reconnect and go for a spirited drive for about 20/30 mins

Basically it's like a little remap in simple terms just lets the ecu recalibrate the air fuel etc

Basically lets the ECU forget it's calibration data for the air intake and fuel injectors. When you reset it it clears the data and re-learns the settings.

In theory the ECU should go into a "self learning" mode which should mean it will remap itself to some degree? I know the triumph motorcycles do it so presumably cars do to?

One thing to remember is that it may take a few drive cycles to properly sort itself out after connecting the battery up again

Nah it's not a remap, it's still going to use the default values that the o2 sensors send to the ECU.

I always thought they had a range of values albeit a very small range so it could make small adjustments if needed like to cope with it being slightly richer or leaner due to air or fuel
