So I am thinking about having a stainless system fab'd up for the fiesta with a decat straight pipe.

But I want to if possible avoid having to retune the car to get rid of the engine light issue.

I know the cheats you can buy, either the resistor setup or elbow extension are hit and miss and don't always work, though which is the best option?

I like the mechanical funcionality of the elbow jobby, as I find when things rely on electronics they tend to not work, though which have people had the most luck with?

Thanks Lads

Generally takes a while for them to get the light to turn off right?

You can always reset the code with a cheap obd2 reader to turn the light off after fitting an elbow.

Does this keep the check engine light off though? I always thought it would just come back on once ignition was turned on/ off again

Sorry mate I was referring to the use of a scanning tool to reset the ecu to turn it off...

But yeah I hear these things (elbows) are hit and miss and might be the difference between me getting a system or not as really cant be bothered with the hassles of forking out for a tune etc

When you erase the fault codes it turns the light off. If the light comes back on then the fault has re-occurred.

IF you install an elbow, and IF you reset the codes, and IF the elbow does what it should, then the light will stay off. If the light comes back on, then the elbow hasn't worked. My light is on all the time, I just ignore it now, and check the codes occasionally to make sure nothing else has gone wrong lol

As dontpannic says. The light will reoccor after a time if it's not fixed.

I have a full milltek sytem with sportscat on my car. When I have the standard map the light appears. If I reset it with my faultreader it dissapear, but will reoccur after 1-2 weeks.

When I use the pumaspeed map, it's no light. Hope it will pass MOT though, since I don't have my old exhaust any longer haha.

Thanks guys...

Do you have any kind of cheat on your system which isn't working? Or are you just running without?

I hear there are specific ways to install them interns of angles and the way which the sensor sits after installing to ensure it works as it should. Weird it's hit and miss, it surely should either work or not...

Does the CEL put the car into any kind of limp mode?

I'm just running without.

I would assume that the elbow would have to be mounted so the wiring for the Lambda sensor points towards the front of the car, so you get a minature "U" shape with the sensor.
