I am just fitting the ipod connecter cable, i want to fit it properly and the instructions shows that you have to remove a piece of plastic down the side in the footwell, however when i turn the screw on either footwell it just spins?

I dont want to pull at it incase i snap something, what am I doing wrong?

It's not a screw it's a scrivet.
Carefully prise the screw headed part out of the outer surround with a thin blade screwdriver if it won't come out by using very gentle pressure on the screw head as you un-do, then the outer surround will pop out.
When you re-fit push the outer part all the way in 1st and then push the screw headed part into that.
