I've had my little beast a while now and I am thinking about maybe doing a few performance mods on it. Trouble is, the thought also crossed my mind that maybe I should save my pennies and get a FocusST in about a year, its instantly more powerful and with a turbo I rekon probably easier to tune. But I also love the little fez! I just can't make up my mind so thought id see what u guys think?

Keep the fez and do some mods!! The focus is nice but I think the fiesta is a nicer, sportier looking car.

The Focus will lose money very quickly over a short space of time where as the Fiesta will not lose so much. Mod it up Enjoy the little nippy beast.

Yeah I would agree. You have a nice car which you can do a fair amount to. Put an induction kit, Full exhaust system and maybe lower it and it will only get better!

OK you've all helped me make my mind up! I had been changing my mind every five minutes for the past few days, but I will now stick with the fez, its an ace little car. As for mods, I'll see what the money is like closer to xmas, and maybe treat myself to a little something!

Thanks for the help guys, my mind is much more at rest now!

Stay with the Fiesta. You shouldnt think about how easy it is to tune but if you can afford to run a car that hits 25mpg on a good day. The Fiesta is the drivers car, the Focus is a big turbo'd tango bubble butt of a car and tends to leave you feeling a bit remote from the action.

I think it all depends on what your looking for mate. I personally would go for the Focus as you have a warrenty with it! plus to get a massive power gain in the fez you'd be looking to spend quite a bit. Focus is prob a bit more comfortable to drive than the fez, more room etc.

With the fiesta u probably get it up to 200 BHP as for the focus ST u can get up to 300 BHP now made by wolf. Also there the Focus RS which is cheaper than a new Focus ST and u can get up to around 400BHP!! that a difficult choice!

Seeing how many focus ST's are on the road i would say keep your fiesta it's more exclusive than a focus ST.Mod it up a nice induction kit, stainless exhaust and a de cat that would do for starters, but it's up to you.

all depends what you after....

out and out straight line car...

or a nippy fiesta which despite less power has the ability to make light work of the focus on the track.

For the moment that couldn't be further from the truth. 1 year old examples with 15k miles are being traded in with dealers (notoriously mean) for £16k. Production has been throttled right back from the start so the market isn't flooded with them. Demand > Supply = Good residuals.

It's a trick Porsche are very good at.

That said I am truly shocked and dissapointed by the Focus ST's fuel economy. Frankly I think it's pathetic and whilst you might claim that it's a sports car don't think about it etc..etc.. my Skoda Vrs (180bhp) averages an easy 40+mpg on a run and when being thrashed like yesterday (was in a hurry so 30miles across country) only dropped to 28mpg for the journey. I guess the Boxster is an unfair comparison but it puts out 20bhp more that the Focus and easily returns an average of 33mpg to a tank given a variety of driving conditions and styles.

I'm not sure what it is they do but Ford cock it up somwhere. Compare it to the Astra VXR if you don't like my examples....
