Hi guys,

I had a post a while ago asking about weather to get Eibach Pro or xlows, i went for the pros and am happy with the look (i think the back looks lower than the front but i assume this is an illusion due to the wheels sitting further back in the arches) 12.5mm spacers to come,

Firstly I want to check if everyone elses rear springs sit like this

I have been told this is just because of the way they are being progressive but I didnt think they would coil up like this when stationary, if people can confirm theres are also like this ill be happy happy

lastly a while ago I had my tracking done, this was because my steering wheel wasn't central, they did straighten up my wheel and they said my toe was out of line, however the handling changed, it didn't feel as sharp and responsive when steering, felt abit looser than before, any I have now had my car lowered and this hs seemed to have made the new loose feel even more noticeable, Im going to get my tracking done again as its been lowered, but why would it feel loose after tracking even before I lowered? has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Yes, the coils do touch when stationary.
I think the softer part just acts a bit like a helper spring that you get in some front coilovers, keeping the spring (which is now shorter than a standard one) in place when the travel is at full droop.

I have read that toe-out improves steering response, but too much will scrub the tyres on the inside so you have to have a compromise.
I guess you could ask them to give it some more toe-out to see if it helps, at the risk of your tyres wearing quicker.... or you could have a play by turning the track rod ends a couple of turns on both sides grin
I remember when I first got my ST and the tracking was well out, the car was very darty.

Car looks really nice!

oo good! glad its not just mine then, yea im guessing thats it, when its jacked up they expand so they dont just fall out, just coil up when its down so its lower,

and yea i read about that, im guessing my toe was out which is why it steered sharp but now is done right it feels worse... but im baffled because my tires were more worn on the outside, which would suggest toe in, yet toe out is what i thought is better for cornering, im going to a place called aline who do hunters alignments and speak to them and see what they think, also how long should i leave for the springs to settle and then get an alingment done? also going to get a strut brace once all thats done hoping thatll tighten up the handling abit more,

and thanks happy just had my mot and its in "very good nick" according to the tester, no adviseries an good brakes, and good news now i can put my decat pipe back into my millek system woop!

I only ever trust proper 4 wheel laser alignment now. I've had some bad results with the normal method of tracking so the "up on the ramp, lasers connected to computer" job normally gets it spot on.

just to let you guys know, i had my tracking done at a 4 wheel alignment specialist and the tracking was out! as i guessed it didnt feel right, it was set with some toe out, and st needs abit of toe in, spot on now and felt sharp again after, i then got the axle spacers fitted to the rear which made it feel even more pointey on the steering, and then finally fitted the front strut brace (which i dont think has made a difference whatsoever) but does look very nice happy

is it really? my friend had the mr200 and he told me to get it, i was already finished in everything i done and planned what I wanted, I bought a genuine st500 leather gaiter to replace the rubber one - 16.99 off SCC 89.99 from ford!!! yes 89.99 for a leather gaiter lol, but yea anyway, hes told me to get the short shifter as the cherry on top, but i think the st gear change is spot on anyway? is it really that much of a better experience? and is it as easy as the instructions make out to do? as I had a bad experience with trying to do my exhaust and spacers myself upset

I was always tempted by the short shift - had one on my Saxo - but I just can't bear the thought of £100 for a shorter gearstick throw. Seems a bit expensive to me

much smoother and faster feels more direct a change, recently drove a Mk7 Fiesta 1.0Eco boost gear change felt excellent very smooth and very short, drove that for a few weeks then when I got back in my ST couldn't believe how better and even shorter mine was over the new Mk7. Garage fitted mine.

£100!? where on earth can i get that! its 165 anywhere I can find, i snap one right up for that price lol, and ill deffo go ahead with it happy but all in good time, just trying to get my exhaust totally spot on at the moment, just need to play about with the rear mounts to get it to sit inline the best it can getting another polybush one, and failing that ill go standard ford, im sure a new standard for exhaust rubber should be more solid than an older one anyway
