seeing as my mountune cold air feed is not in direct air flow, I decided to sort it out, no room anyway down by the grill for the huge feed to be fully behind the grill, probably have to squash the end and jam it in the gap.
I purchased this Revotec Side Air Duct from demon tweeks small one 100x200mm and as if by magic if fits spot on in the gap and even slided behind part of the bumber structure, all I have done is rested it on the bottom grill tabs, line it up where I want at a slight up angle, drilled two holes in it and used two zip ties.
Took it for a drive, felt sharp, idling better was a bit lumpy than normal, hoping it will adjust even more but certainly felt good, was a nice shove at top end of 2nd gear.
No idea if this will help my ongoing start up limp mode, bit more air in on start up might help, I have car booked in on monday for a brand new (again) 60mm throttle body just to rule that out, got it cheap enough to warrant trying it out, any more future issues then will be brand new ECU this time around.

It's amazing how such a small and cheap addition to the car can make such a big difference. I was planning to do something similar with mine, except I was planning to use a dual cold air feed from the grille to the filter.

Good idea.
That's the same place my 2 air feed hoses are but just open ended hose cable tied to the grille.
The duct should have a greater catchment area.

yes hopefully, my feed is to short to reach the grill now I think a couple of inches which were dirty were cut off when last at mountune, have to undo it to get ECU off and out.

very happy with this, car is really liking it at high revs, 2nd gear seemed to kick and surge up the rev band.
Got my new TB on today so will let that settle in and adjust itself before I give it some hard runs.
