Hi guys I'm completely new to forums in general and a new owner for a fiesta st150. Apart from having g it lowered the day I bought it the car is completely stock whats the best upgrades for the car to start with? I'm thinking exhaust system and induction kit but even if that's a good idea which ones are best value for money with still having good gains?

Yeah, induction and exhaust is a good start. I don't think the particular brand really makes a lot of difference. Gains of about 10-15bhp with a full exhaust and induction.

k+n used to be the typical induction kit but they're gotten expensive now for what they are; a pod filter a hose elbow and a vent from the cam cover. Exhaust is probably best decided by your sound and volume preference.

I was looking at k&n but as you say so much more expensive than the rest ordered a ramair induction kit and found a sportex exhaust system with a silencer less and 3" tail pipe I thought looked good for just £180. That's pretty good gains for just those two things really by time get a stage 1 remap could be looking at 170-180bhp or am I dreaming?

induction kit, a good air feed to it, heat shield to protect from heat from engine and full exhaust including manifold and sports cat to end, pretty much all you need, probably won't even need mapping unless you want to wring out a couple of bhp more.

Ahh okay ill look at entire exhaust system then. My induction kit came this morning it has a cold air feed ducting to be attached to the front grill diwntowards the ground will that be sufficient and where would I get a heat shield? Hoping the kit gives the car a nice induction roar at least.

I would advise staying away from toyosport exhausts. mine is always blowing and the manifold offers no bhp gain as it has the same choke point as the oem manifold.

there was a useful post on here somewhere that shows dyno runs with each induction kit for comparison.

Okay thank you Mark I'll look at that post although fitted a ramair one today sounds meaty and seems more responsive on the throttle and I'll look at milltec and scorpion exhausts and stay away from toyosport appreciate the advice mate

It's a nice sound when you first put the induction kit on.
Milltek is very raspy if you like that, most of the others are deeper sounding, Mountune is sort of in between but I think you can only get them second hand now.

So many choices of exhaust really and I guess I'm after a deep tone low revs but not so loud it sounds like the thing is blowing and then higher revs I like the car to sound angry had a type r back along and that was my favourite thing about it sounded like the thing needed anger management

yes go for a well know brand of exhaust as above, keep the air feed well away from the ground don't want any water being sucked up, behind grill just fine if you can tie it in place very securely, a bit of alloy plating for a heat shield bend it shape it.

Good shout with the alloy plating do I put it above and around the new cone style filter then?

not above usually just around, if you have it right in the corner it should be getting air from the slam panel where the original factory ducts were and also from underneath from your feed, would think just needs something dividing it from the engine. I've often wondered whether the feed pipe should also be heat protected with some anti reflect heat wrap although plenty of air under the car but surely overall must be pretty hot under the hood.

Okay ill get some and pop some around it I see what you are saying with the cold feed pipe itself I would think it does get toasty under the hood fairly quickly too even with the cold air getting in through the vents etc.

It did seem to work my friend when I've driven it and had to open bonnet after it's seemed a lot less toasty around that area etc
