So I recently purchased a 08 Fiesta ST off a neighbour. The car had been sat a while and had no MOT. I thought I’d hit the midlife crisis early (35yo) and buy myself a cheap toy. All seemed well until recently. The car wouldn’t start just a clicking from the starter so a new battery was purchased still wouldn’t start so I attempted to bump start it and job was a good one it started. So now I’ve fitted the new starter it started and then cut out straight away fault code P2110. Only parts removed was throttle body and a multi plug from the inlet manifold of which both are reconnected. What on earth could be the problem

I'd guess the throttle body, if you can get hold of a second hand one and give that a try as they are expenside brand new.

Bit of a stab in the dark but if you use Torque Lite with your OBD reader you can see the throttle position as a percentage while you press the throttle pedal. It can be done without the engine running. If there's anything obviously amiss with it it might show up, kind of a long shot though

Try cleaning the throttle body first off, especially if it's been sitting a while - but also make sure the throttle body is properly reconnected as well - P2110 suggests a lack of connection between the throttle actuator and the PCM.
