I phoned my dealer today to get the bank details so I could pay via a bank transfer. I was also told that my car had arrived two days ago and that the factory was being very quick at the moment. The problem for me though is, as I buy them tax free, I have to keep the car for one year and a day - which is December the 14th. In a way I wish they hadnt told me! Also, does this mean it will be in the showroom for people to get in and out of?!

No they wont mate it will just be kept in storage The Dealership where i worked would not put a sold car in to the showroom. My ST has been at the Dealership now for 2 months and its still in the same place when it got pdi'd. End of the day its your car

Lol I got my car from Evans Halshaw and was convinced it was the showroom model as it had couple of scratches on it near the door handles

Hate to say it guys....

I couldn't get a test drive locally in an ST. Eventually one of the dealers that I had been in negotiation with rang me and let me take out a brand new customer's car that had just been delivered . I didn't really give it any stick but I thought it was outrageous that I was allowed to do it.

So, ultimately, anything goes as far as dealers are concerned.

When I used to work at the VW dealer in France this was not uncommon practice though we always informed the client if we were to do this and if the client refused of course it was not done. Usually though they would not mind if we threw in a set of floor mats and a full tank. Maybe the dealer you tested the car with asked for the client's permission before offering you to take it out. Just a thought...

Nevertheless I notice that the test drive policies are very different from country to country. Over here more often than not they slap a set of dealer plates on the car you wish to try, throw you the keys and let you go off for a drive on your own... and no it's not only on old bangers, I've seen this exact practice happening at a Ford dealer while I was just looking around and the salesman "sent off" a couple in a brand new Focus ST...

I waited a couple of months trying to get a test drive but eventually i did and that was in a customers new car. although they wouldn't allow me to take it on the motorway for that reason.

Well hopefully mine will just sit out the back and not be used for a test drive. i will check the miles on the clock and if it is huge i will ask them why. i dont think they will take me for a ride though as it is my fourth car from them

Good idea mate. They shouldn't do we never sent customers cars to showrooms or took them out on test drives, think that you will be ok
