Does anyone know if the st is being recalled for problems with the aircon? Just a bloke at work told me that his has been called back in for aircon problems.

When i got my pre facelift ST new in March 2005 it was recalled for a new aircon compressor, this was limited to only a few as they fitted some from the Mondeo.

I now have a 56 plate ST & as far as i know the only thing Ford are replacing is the Gem module from the alarm system, this is not even a proper recall, they're just doing the ones that complain.

It'll do that Knight, that's not a problem. The phase 2 STs suffer massively with faulty alarm modules and the car alarm goes off for no reason whatsoever.

for sure,
mine is in as we speak 4 3 seperate problems.

1, the engine management is on.
2, alarm problems such as going off when door gets unlocked by remote
and going off 4 no reason(the alarm is not very loud???)and when the
alarm goes off the indicators don,t flash.
3, the door drain holes the ones closest to the door hinge not punched
out.
hopefully these problems will get sorted soon,i,ve been without my st
since last wednesday afternoon.

Still havent got my car as yet and my mum works at the compound where my car is being stored and she phoned me friday morning when she got to work saying the indicators where flashing for no reason and that the alarm kept going off they thought it was down to battery running flat as its been sat there for 2 and a half months think they started it and left it running. The car has already had an electrical fault with the display being in German and had to have new cluster in it and havent even touched it yet so i can see that when i finally collect it it will be back in at the dealer. Cars giving me headache already

Ive never heard my alarm going off unattended, as the car is in the garage overnight which is seperate from the house.

However, on a couple of occasions, when Ive unlocked it in the morning, the alarm has gone off for no apparent reason.

My question is - did the alarm go off to tell me that the alarm had been activated during the night?

If so, looks like I need a new module! Any thoughts?

Cheers

Andy (still contemplating side stripes by the way - seen em cheap on EBAY, anyone got any tips for fitting them??)

andy,
i would be tempted to get your alarm checked out(you may need a new gem
module).mine is getting checked out as we speak.with regard to the stripes
fitting the side stripes might be fairly straight forward(says me who got
the dealer to fit mine)but i would not attempt to fit the over the top ones
myself,i understand they are a *$£*?)rd to fit,get the dealer or a graphic
mobile guy to fit them for you.

Cheers iceman,

Will get the alarm checked out next week.

With regard to the stripes, I dont really want the OTT ones as theyre a bit too boy racer for me. Definitely fancy the sides, just looking for fitting tips if anyone can offer any?
Andy
