IMO the doesnt look different enough without the stripes, black with white stripes looks fab, really striking!! i like to stand out from the crowd so had to have full stripes.

Thats the dilemma im in with my blue one, although im just thinking of sides. A black ST with stripes is very rare but i think it would look good with just the side stripes in white. I think the OTT stripes are.....errrrm.....OTT

Will you ask your dealer to fit them if you decide to go for them?

I have only seen one black with full stripes and thought it looked the biz.
But if i were to have a black one, i think i would find an after sales company to do 'Metalic Silver' stripes as i think silver suits black a lot more.
Only my opinion though.

Just for comparison for you here's three pics of black STs. One plain, one side stripes only, and one with full stripes. See what you think:

I actuqlly think the full stripes on the black looks really good. a good contrast of colours.

I went without the stripes on my st but have bought the genuine ford ones of a guy i know for £30 so if you are interested i'll find out if he has any white ones or not (know he has blue). As for your desicion your faced with i would say go for them as it seems to suit the car plus it is very rare to see a black st with full stripes i have only ever seen the one and that includes working for ford

I think i have answered my own question today as i was looking on the ford website and it says under the options and accessories bit for the fiesta that the exterior styling pack is available as an option and accessory on the ST and an accessory on the zetec s. I have been really pondering over the stripes today at work, do i get side stripes or not. My car is at the dealers at the moment but i cant pick it up until dec 14th (tax free rules for us forces). Do i ask them to put side stripes on it or not?? and what do you think a realistic cost would be if anyones had it done?

It is very tempting but i have just been looking on my dealers website and it says it does part and accessories but i cant find anywhere that they fit them. do they have to have rapid fit to be able to fit them for me? here is the addy dealer. what i dont want to happen is to ask them to do it and find that they either cock it u p or have to send it away causing me to get it late. im so indecisive arent i!

Cool, someone whos had it fitted by a dealer, im going to probe you now with questions if you dont mind! How much did they charge you in total for them (inc fitting) and are they covered by any sort of warranty, if you dont mind me asking?

Hi Benji,

They are only covered by warranty if they are factory fitted. Also I would get them fitted by a professional as I've just spoken to my mate who works for a Ford dealership and he says they never use a graphics company they just fit them themselves, not always with great results.

I do want them but and i wish i had ordered them from the factory. The only reason i wanted to go with ford is because i thought i would get a warranty with them and it would be really convenient to have them on the car when it arrived. also you would expect them to be fitted properly. i could just leave it and decide later on. i can always order the stripes from fordpartsuk and get them fitted over here in germany by a professional company.

Iceman - what did you think to the quality of the stripes you had fitted by ford?

There was a thread a while back about warranty on the stripes and whether they were covered so its a bit of a grey area. so did you take your car into ford and they sort it from there. do ford have lots of bodyshops or is it in the dealers itself. and how much is it all costing? sorry for all the questions i just want lots of info before i decide anything!

benji,
sorry for delay again, firstly when i bought the car it did not have any
stripes on at all,i asked the dealer to fit the side stripes as an extra
whitch he did(£75 fitted).now i am getting the full over the top stripes
done(about£175 fitted).the chap who does it works for himself,a mobile
graphic chap, he is very good.it takes the best part of 4 to 5 hours to
fit as its not easy so i hear.warranty well am not too sure about that
i am afraid i shall ask when i get i done and let you know.

No probs for the delay and thanks for the info. I presume you have had no dramas with the dealer fitted side stripes and it all went well. I always think the dealer will do a better job than a graphics company, i dont know why and i maybe wrong but oh well! the OTT ones i can imagine being a bit of a bitch to fit especially across the roof and the lining up down the boot. im going to email my sales woman and see if she can give me a quote on them doing it for me. at the end of the day if they go wrong i can always take it back to a ford garage and say they fitted it and theyve gone wrong. they might be a bit annoyed off with me cos i already changed the order half way through production and now im going to ask them to do this but i guess thats what they are there for.

I have just had an email back from my dealer saying that there are two types of stripes available, one with the ford logo (presumably made for the zetec s) and the ones with the ST logo on them, which i presume are the official ford stripes. They are quoting £95 for supplying at fitting them. Do i email back and ask them to go ahead?

I would, the stripes cost that alone from Ford, let alone the price of fitting!

when it comes to fitting them, which is drivers side logo to the front of car
and passenger side logo to the rear of the car.

I have gone for them. I emailed her back yesterday and cheekily I asked if they were the same stripes that would have been fitted had i opted for them to start with - with the ST logo at the front on the drivers side and the rear on the passengers side. I havent had a reply yet but I have told them to do it for me. Ill keep you all posted.

Right I have had a reply from my dealer. They have confirmed they are the correct stripes and that they will get them fitted. It's 3 weeks today until I pick it up as well, I'm quite excited! Just hope I'm not disappointed with the side stripes. Thanks for everyone's advice on this and I will get pics up of it inside and out when I pick it up on the 14th. Cheers guys

Althought the Black St's look great with white stripes I do like them naked! If you're going to put stripes on it, maybe think of doing them another colour other than white......something different!!

I didnt fancy getting the OTT stripes on mine. I thought it might be a bit too much especially on the blue but then i havent really seen a blue one with full stripes in the flesh. Im glad youve got yours all sorted now though you must be really chuffed. I guess the did a good job of it then cos it was ford that did it wasnt it?

i know iceman paid 75 though so u may be able to get them down. another way to do it is to buy the stripes off ebay from 1stickerboy at 15 and then take them to ford and ask them to fit them, thatll save u some money too.

My red one had dealer fitted side stripes (slightly larger than factory fit stripes) but I took them off.

Those who are going to be impressed that it's an already know it is without the stripes. Those who aren't going to be impressed aren't worth informing what it is .

Dealer fitted stripes are larger than factory fits are they? i thought they were the same template and thats where the dealers got their stripes from. i presume from your location you work in a ford dealer, am i correct in saying that?

Chandler's Ford is a place in Hampshire. Its in fact the place where the company that did my steering wheel are/were based (G&B Trimming). When dealerships fit stripes they tend to get outside graphics companies to do them and those companies dont have the "proper" templates. Some have a good go and some (I'm sensing Hendy Ford Lplus!!) have huuuuge wide side stripes with rather dubious ST symbols in them and weeny thin OTT stripes.

Well I specifically asked them in the email whether they were the same stripes i would have got had i ordered them from the start, the ones from the factory. they said yes and asked if i wanted the stripes with a ford logo or an st logo. with any luck i will have official ones.
