i have not ever had mines revved up over to the red lines but sometimes towards the top of the rev range in second gear my car seems to stop pulling kinda suddenly any ideas as to why it would dod this as i thought i had maybe broke something??? but it wasn't pushing it that hard

Yeah mine does it when I hit 7rpm. It's probably because you're not suppose to red line......only do it on the odd occasion!!

As well as the top end rpm limiter there is also a power output limiter, which you will notice like a cut in the power. A bit like the torque limiter in place in 1st and 2nd gears. Both can be removed using the new Dreamscience software, you can bounce it off the rev limiter if you like then no problem. EDIT - well beyond the obvious problem of breaking the engine if done too much!

Yeah when mine did it, it felt really weird and I panicked. It's as though it got stuck, kind of!!

I was just sat there looking around thinking "Wtf??!" watching one of our lot disappear ahead of me. Curses. Popped it into 2nd and away she went.

I'm waiting for certain people without the torque limiter to shred their engines. I'm a bit of a "there for a reason" person.

I think I'll take that comment on board

If I had the dreamscience I'd keep the limiters on.

You can still overrev your engine even if you have a rev limiter by changing down too early or into the wrong gear, like what happened to a client of my dealer's a few months back. Revved up to 9000 and resulted in bent valves... .

On another note, Mase are you sure about the torque limiter on our cars? I'm pretty sure we don't have this. It was a Focus RS feature...

Could it be something only fitted to facelift cars? or even the traction control part of the ESP kicking in?

Mase is correct, there is a torque limiter in 1st & 2nd, not sure what it is though. An uprated clutch & quaife diff will easily be able to deal with the extra torque available by removing the limiters. When I get dreamsciene the limiters will be off.

Do you know if my pre-face lift car has this too?
