If you don't have the code number, you can only get it from Ford, direct.

To do this, it will have to be done through the dealer because they will have to take your radio out to read the serial number.(which should be free of cost)

There are other ways, but that costs money.

They don't need to take the radio out on our headunits as you can press 2 buttons together to get the serial number..... then they put it through a Ford system to get the code.

But the selling dealership normally keep a record of it.

They sometimes stick it on the inside cover of the manual.

they told me to hold buttons 2 and 6 in whilst the radio was on, it then brings a load of serial numbers up(not sure which they wanted so let them take the unit out)

i heard if you put your radio unit in the freezer for a bit it forgets the code and you can reprogram it. however dont try this at home as i'm assuming its an old wives tale!

lol that won't work. It might do on old 80's/early 90's radios but newer ROMS surley wont forget their security settings.

It did work on old Fords from the late 80s to early 90s as SI ST says.
They had a chip in them which contained some minute amount of fluid base. - the freezer froze the fluid and burst the chip- apparently..

This did used to work on the 'Phillips' radios of the late '80's, i should know i had a freezer full of err......chickens back then.

I think if you did this with todays radios you would be in risk of blowing the house up .
