This may have ben done before but thought I would post anyway:

I put in some BP Ultimate Uleaded the other day, made my ST quite flat I thought. Lost some of its "pokiness"

I read in the manual that 95 ron is recommended. Seems to me that bog-standard BP unleaded does it for me.

What do you use? and another question, what do Ford use when handing over a new car with a full tank beacuse I swear when I picked up my new ST it was a lot more powerful (over 2 mnths ago)

They will always go for standard 95 ron as its the cheapest. You may also just be thinking that ur ST is slower and less poerful because you are getting used to the car. If you are that concerned however take it to your local dealer for a checkup.

I use BP Ultimate as well have use different fuel before elf, didn't see a different in power,but did use Shell optimax in my previous car and it did feel a bit quicker! My car has always run on BP cause the dealer own a fuel pump so they just put in BP petrol!Has for been powerful, when u got a new car it does feel quick but after u get use to it and now it does feel slow!

I have used BP Ultimate from day 1.

The only time i did'nt was when we were on the Newquay meet and i filled up with Morrisons fuel as it was the only one available at the time.It was absolute rubbish.Talk about your engine 'Pinking' , it was awful .

As soon as i got home i filled it back up with BP Ultimate and it ran sweet ,and still is,(touch head).

Ive never put ultimate in, cant see the point, still eats it the same

I have used ultimate for the whole time ive had this car. 10% more power and 6% more economy according the pump in germany.

ive used all sorts of s**t and no fuel is better than any other.... honestly.

I've used BP Ultimate regularly for quite some time, and found that it is good, it does run better I find. Certainly I'd never put supermarket fuel in, isn't worth it. I've found that Shell V-Power (and before that Optimax) was even better but I don't get the chance to use it that much, since there isn't many Shells around here - the nearest one is 12 miles away in the opposite direction to where I work, and even that one is meant to be closing early next year.

I've used shell V-Power from the get go, I use it mainly because its cleaner than standard 95 RON fuel and it also has a special anti friction agent in it. For our cars the fuel you put in won't make a massive difference, its really more a matter of personal choice. Don't forget that these engines are designed to run on a range of fuels, going down to around 89RON nasty stuff. The fuel in the UK is already of quite a high standard, and the performance fuels are only just a fraction better.

you have to run it on optimax or ultimate for ages to notice a difference. a fiver here or there wont cut it. i just use whatevers going. normal unleaded, be it from bp, shell esso or whatever!

yeah amanda's right you need to do 5 cycles of bp ultimate to notice any effect!!

I use petrol

I used BP ultimate for the first time in the ST this week and even though i didnt notice any difference in performance, there was a big change in the MPG. It went from average 27.5mpg (I mainly do town driving) to 29.8mpg. Not bad really.

i use morrisons,tesco,asda,total,and jet,however i notice a differance on a frosty morning,get in de-ice windows and set off,the car is very throaty,and pick up well!!!
