My computer has recently died within the last month so have not been on much and looking for a new one. Wish to buy a fairly good spec one as want it to last and as much as want a desktop got no room for one so i have narrowed it down to 2 laptops which can link up to my telly and in a way make a desktop

Dell XPS M1710 or the Toshiba satellite pro p100-327 both are similar specs but which is best one to go for?

Go for the Dell... they are pretty reliable as far as laptops go... my friend's have a Dell and Toshiba at Uni and the Dell has no problems and the Toshiba has a screen problem, mouse pad problem and just not as reliable.

I've viewed quite a few pc's and laptops in my time and nearly everyone on my Computer Degree has them at Uni... and I say Dell all the way!!!

Be warned... their customer help is in India but they are pretty good for picking up. Took me 7 phone calls to get my HP Laptop picked up before X-mas and i've got it back and it's still not right :S

Didn't know Dell's Customer service centre is in India thought it was Ireland for some reason. Cheers Scott what was wrong with your laptop?
Got another problem just been looking at the alienware laptops they are well nice but they use a single core AMD processor which seems bit odd as rest of competition use dual cores. They state get better performance out of it also has 2 1GB graphics cards his a link to one i looked at not necessary the one i will buy http://www.alienware.co.uk/product_detai...ode=SKU-DEFAULT

Thanks for your advice again Scott I liked the Toshiba cuz it had Harman Kardon Speakers on it bit sad i know but heart has always been on a Dell and got a HD Plasma telly i could link it up to as well
