this might have been mentioned on an another thread but anyway, this morning getting into my st(frozen solid)i de iced it and set off home from work to see the outside temp gauge reading 6 degrees, whats all that about when it was obviosly minus whatever it was the same yesterday morning around 06.30 and the car was frozen, but yesterday afternoon picking my son up from school its reading -1 come on whats going on here, and don,t tell me its a characteristic of the car any body else have this niggly problem.
oh and by the way has anybody used shoe and boot protection spray as de icer,i did yesterday morning and i don,t recomend it.....i used it by accident on front and back windows, what an idiot all it did was smear the windscreen totally when i put the wipers on, i was in the car park for nearly 15mins trying to get it off.

I've never had this niggly problem. My outside temp is always what i would expect for example minus figures when its frozen outside etc. Def not a 'characteristic' of car.

Shoe and boot protsction on the windows? Did you get that tip from Mini world monthly?

My ST has heated front and rear windows so don't really bother with deicing products anymore, but I can reccomend using rain-X or similar as a pre-treatment. The ice can't get a firm grip on the window so it will wipe off with the wipers... hurahh!

As for the temp readout; mine works as expected but it is reading under the car so be mindful that although air temp may be sub-zero the road may be higher and even if there is snow on the car the air temp can be plus zero. Did your grandmother never tell you..... "its too cold for snow" eh?!
