No BP stations near home or work. I use standard Shell as they're close and as cheap as the supermarket stuff.

Ford recommend their sponsors. Is this surprising? And yet they use their own oils for servicing.

I use BP Ultimate 100 and think it feels different from using standard 95. I have always used 100 since I've had the car, and in my last one too. It may just be psychological but im sure it makes a difference. Its certainly smoother.

higher ron fuel runs through your engine cleaner and is
supposed to give better performance and mpg apparently.
This will not be greatly noticable though i don't think.

Had a problem over oil yesterday.

Checked the car the other day on level (or as good as) ground and it was just off the minimum. I've had the car since June 2006 and never topped it up.

So yesterday put 0.5 litres in and it goes over the maximum??

There's nothing in the manual to say how much it takes to fill from min to max.

Rang the local garage. They told me to bring the car over. They had to drain some oil out to get it on the max - guess how much? 0.5 litres!

So, according to that my car has never used any oil. They also told me it should not need topping up between services.

But, I still can't understand why it was reading min and then only 0.5 litres takes it over the max. Am scared to go near it with any oil now.
