HOWEVER if you do start lowering and stiffening the saxo you will more than likely get traction problems, tyres wearing and going bold on the inside (not worth the hassle)
I think that's a bit over the top! Well if i ever get the chance to lower mine with a decent Suspension kit im pretty confident it will out handle an ST (lowered or not) because of the responsiveness, lightness and balance of the VTS. It's the reason i own a Saxo, lets face it, it isn't for the image or respect on the road!
But like you say, as standard, the ST handles better, but won't turn quicker.
I can't wait for some B-Road thrashes with Budden =]
And no that isnt over the top one of my friends paid over £400 for a really good lowering kit for his subaru, fiited proffesionally everything done right - and the tyres were bold after a month on the inside of the tyre and it had messed the tracking out,
trust me cars arent meant to be modified - unless you want the consequences

It seems to have got a bit out of hand in this thread. There is no need to get offensive, however it does seem a bit strange to come onto a Fiesta ST forum and start discussing, very strongly in some cases, about the saxo.
Say have to agree there seem like his more in love with a saxo and how good it is! rather than talk about the ST which is a better car all around!if he like the saxo so much then he can keep it!

I suppose its just down to what you prefer. I love the saxo handling but im always wanting it to be stiffer which is why i might get it lowered on springs & adjustable dampers. My GF has a 172, which also has superb handling, probably better than the ST so I have heard, but i still prefer my saxo any day to throw around corners.
The 172 is very wobbly and around country lanes is down right scary… it tilts and when the back end slips you need quite a bit of corner to pull it back in line. The ST is spot on, you know EXACTLY when it’s going to let go and can EASILY slip it back into line. It doesn’t roll and doesn’t give you a heart attack.
With regards to Stiffening a Saxo… you could do that but then you will simply cause other problems… driving it anywhere will cause your bones to break into little bits. The screws will start to rattle out of everything and bits will fall off… You will also need to control the car a lot more as it will start to drift around.

its only natural to be biased towards the car that you and in the case of keydogg the car that your GF owns aswell. So i imagine once my ST is sat nicely on my driveway, i will argue that it is the best thing since sliced bread, but to be honest i think that anyway just from the test drive Up the boys!
Nope your wrong. On this site we aren’t like the Vauxhall Owners Tree Crashing Club or Clio In The Hedge.com, we will speak our mind and tell you exactly what we think of the car and how it compares.
I don’t own an myself and have completely unbiased views. I will say when I don’t think your requirements for a car aren’t really for the … but then I will also say when they are and the advantages/disadvantages.
Having been in the “street racing” scene for years also I know “how to” race and what happens there… I wanted to gain knowledge so decided to join in.

This backs up what I stated earlier.

I dont care what you do to your saxo, if you want a better car and are looking at an it is infact a hell of a lot better than a saxo!!!!!!!!
Mate - it's not a case of which is better? When did it ever become that? Your car is worth 9k, why the flipping would i expect my 3.5k car to compare as an overall car?
Retard..
You fail to realise about this site… we are all respectful people and will give our honest opinions, both good and bad… you have to accept them as personal views and allow for what is said…
This is a PUBLIC forum on the internet and if you don’t want to hear good and bad then I suggest you don’t post asking for comments.
I do not appreciate such slander on my site… I suggest you think more carefully to your language used on here.
My personal comments:
The saxo is now getting old, just like the rest of the generation when that was released and technology has now improved and things are getting better.
A bit like a PC… you can modify it and add RAM a Processor… but the motherboard will STILL be the same (please allow for comparison, I know you can change the motherboard) The motherboard is like the chassis, will keep getting older and older and eventually even if you try and improve bits around it… it’s reached it peak.
The is the next step… it’s the new advanced Motherboard already fitted with a Dual Core Processor and Loads of Ram, but also has added safety and comfort features.
The saxo is lightweight, the safety features are outdated. The is heavier due to being one of the safest cars on the road with extra crash protection and safety features. It has more gadgets, more toys, looks better, drives better.
You can defend your saxo to the hills… but… I suggest you don’t on here, as I will defend the to the mountains if I have to!!! I’m not biased but if you come on here being biased and not allowing for reasonable opinions then you will always get an answer back that you don’t want to hear… that is ultimately the is a newer, better, more advanced, more comfortable, quicker and a MUCH better car.
Which would you want? I know which I’d have!
