Has anyone else's bitting point on the clutch really high? There is no way i have worn the facings out as I know how to drive and don't ride the clutch ever! Any clues as to what it could be? Oh i've only done 13,500 miles

A faulty clutch plate or pressure plate etc And no way should you have worn it out by 13,500miles!

whilst on the subject of clutches and what have you, today whilst waiting for my son outside school with engine running i was just happening to be playing with selecting gears (as you do) i noticed a change in the engine tone when pressing the clutch down and releasing it,thats without engaging a gear, strange has anyone else heard this,or is it just normal.

yes all it is, is that u have disengaged the drive. The tone wil change when u release the clutch as you have put a load on it.

Has it got this way recently, or over a period of time, or has it always been high?
The fiesta clutch is hydraulic, so it should always start to bite at the same level, however worn the clutch; clutch wear finally manifests itself in slip. That's the great benefit, no need for complex self adjustment mechanisms

Its happened over a period of time, was ok. But I also find it near impossible to pull away from cold with out it going to stall. There is no clutch slip.
With the noise when pressing the clutch pedal thats the release bearing isn't it?
