Just got mine back today. It went in for diagnostics this morning but they said they've sorted it out. Apparently it wasn't one of the earlier GEM modules that needed replacing (they checked the code with Ford) and it just needed reprogramming. Apparently you can't do this with the other modules. Just hope it's sorted the problem out. Steve

Hi,
Ford dealers should know about the problems people are having with alarms. There is a fix (replace gem unit).
My local dealer took my car in looked at it and then ordered the unit. Shame with so many being faulty I would have expected these units to be on the shelf, although I don't know wether the dealer has the ability to program the required codes.
Anyway, that was last week, as I was working nights this week, I booked the car to go in to have the unit replaced today. Have now got it back and all appears ok. Best find some wood to touch.... oh! there we go, my head will do!!!!
So as above have said, best let Ford take a look, sometimes they do know what they're on about!!!
Rob

Strewth, are these problems still cropping up? Has it been fixed on the latest cars or am I likely to be taking my new (due on March 1st) back to the dealers?

Another way to test it is to manually unlock the boot with the key when the alarm is switched on.
Cheers Chris, I will give it a go at the weekend, see if my indicators flash!

I still havn't got round to taking my ST in yet. Back in September it kept going off, it seemed as if the heat was affecting it, but now the winter has come it hasn't really happened at all.
Saying that if I have the heater on up quite high and then park up its almost guaranteed to go off once double locked.
Strange but will get it done, does anybody now how long it takes to get the GEM module replaced from driving in the forecourt to getting your car back?
Its just the inconvnience that p*sses me off.
