Hi. I'm a newbie here, registered when I first heard about the Fiesta RS... Shame about that.

Anyhow, I'm wanting to fit remote central locking to my already central locking equipped 03 Fiesta Zetec, can anyone help?

Are there any modules which simply plug in to the existing central locking system?

Thanks for any help/info.

Cheers.

It might be easier just to employ a alarms specialist to install an alarm into you car. It will cost about £200 fitted... There will be a key fob with locking facility, lights flash and leds added.

The Ford system would set u back a big amount i should expect without the fitting and thats if its compatible with the basic system you have atm. The ford alarm is useless anyways, never goes off, dont even thing it does go off.

Best to get an alarm done. My dad had a Toad alarm fitted to his Porsche and its brilliant!!!

This is my advise as FOrd alarms are BLOODY USELESS.

how this is helpful.

Yeah, thats not a bad option to think about - I just hate using keys on door locks.. Lazy I know.

Cheers.

I'd say that is a plus. Bloody Cliffords go off all the fecking time. I know I've had a few of them. The Ford system however does when it needs to.

Johnnyb, scotty is right but you don't necessarily have to go to all the time and expensive of having your car pulled aparet and extra bits being fitted in where they don't need to be. I persoanlly would pop down to my local friendly Ford garage (by that I don't necessarily mean the Ford garage that is closest to you!) and ask them to show you the system on the Microcat system (or whatever it is now, I think they have a new parts fiche system in place) and see if it is just a plug-in module. Remote central locking is a £2-300 factory upgrade as you need to upgrade your car keys as well and that isn't very cheap.

I know how much of an arse it is to have to use your key in the winter to unlock the car so have a look in the maplin or rscomponents catalogues (check google for their websites) and see what kits they offer. I recall them doing them for about £30-40 a few years ago.

If you do decide to upgrade the alarm, checkout also Sigma and Laserline. A very good friend of mine has done professional alarm and hi-fi installs for over 10 years and he reckons them to be the best. He used to fit Cliffords but go so fed up with their going wrong that he stopped bothering despite their popularity. They are all about the gimmicks.

Having been in contact with Ford I think even they recommend going down the aftermarket route! (Even gave me the number of an installer lol).

They said I'd have to pop in to have a look at the parts catalogue and so on, when I get a chance I'll take them up on this - just to see how much of a fiddle it is to fit the OEM stuff.

Cheers.
