well i hit the 500 mile mark tonight and thought id let her go a bit took the car to 6k revs in first and second felt a bit annoyed with myself for doing it before i hit the 1000 mile mark but what the hell its what its built for.

shouldn't worry about it! as long as the engine temperature is right there no problem! The guy at the garage told that I shouldn't have bother with those limit for those miles! don't worry didn't myself to my car as well!

As long as you do it just ocassionally during the next 500 miles then will be fine. It's good to ease it in a bit more as you get towards 1000 anyways rather than keeping it at very low revs and then suddenly blasting it everywhere once you get over the 100 mark.

it was fully warm so im not worried too much. and that was the first time so i'll take it easy for the next 500 miles.

Aslong as you've been driving for 10mins or so and the engine is warm then it's not an issue. Atleast you have felt the power of the car now

For maximum protection you really want to wait until the oil is upto temp. This isn't the same as Water being up to temp which is what the standard gauge shows. Does the ST have an Oil Temp gauge as well?

Oil normally takes about 15mins to get up, whereas water takes about 5. I wouldn't worry though, sounds like you did it when the time was right, and you still didn't take it upto the limiter at over 7k or anything!

no the ST doesn't have Oil temp gauge! only water!



focus st do have a oil pressure gauge.

d'oh! well just leave it 10 mins into the drive before you start giving it some serious stick then!
