Last week i went over a bump, and heard a crack and bang noise.........
then tonight as i went over a drain, A piece of metal , like a half circle of steel came of the car, I think!!!

any info on what it is.....

the bit of metal that fell out was prob a bearing out of the cv joint, if it is that you will need to get it sorted pretty rapido otherwise it will chew up your drive shaft

i think it looks like a bit of spring, but im not into motors too much,
as i said cos i geard a bit of a bang and the noise last night im a bit worried..

forgive me for being off topic, but you wasnt playing battlefield 2 last night was you? someone kept shooting me with the same name as you lol! (portbhoy)

god knows what that piece is, looks a little rusty, you sure it wasnt already in the road and flicked up against the underside of your car?

Yep, thats very likley a piece of the spring. Your quite lucky it did'nt go though the tyre but it still could. You'll need a new one asap. I'm very surprised to see it rotten through. It will creak over bumps and will probably make a bang on full lock.

Yip it does make a bang on full lock,it was probably cracked and when i heard the bang last wee that was it fanaly going...

are there any pictures i can look at to see what that area looks like where the spring is

I will take to garage asap

Just have a look at the opposite side. You might have to buy 2 springs - one for either side to balance the suspension properly, otherwise it might pull to the left/right because the spring will be stiffer on one side.

Well in it's current condition it would be an MOT failure so I would say it needs replacing before driving around. There could be more damage than you know about so it needs checking out. Like I said before it can split further and go straight through the tyre. If you want lowering springs then thats up to you.
