Some of you may know that i've just ordered a Corsa VXR. I read a proper review of the car the other day and they had the chance to sling it round a track. Now the VXR does have some beefy brakes but the review said that it seemed to suffer quite badly with brake fade.

Now, this really doesn't worry me as i rarely drive my car to that extent where i would encounter this, but it did get me thinking of the STs brakes. So the poeple who have slung the ST properly round a track, have you noticed any brake fade, and how does it compare with other cars you have driven? Of course i want to know about standard ST brakes not uprated ones

Arun said the ST does suffer with brake fade quite a bit and when we did a track day (and he drove my car) we came in every 4-5 laps to let them cool down.

I had a test drive in the new Corsa VXR on Thursday. I must say that it is a nice car but I still prefer the Fiesta. And if I was going to be spending that amount on a car like that I would have to go for the Focus ST instead. Just out of interest Chris, when did they say you would get delivery of the car? My friend at work ordered his and has been told September.

I agree the Focus ST is an amazing car, but sadly i have a titchy garage thats not easy to get into. Its bad enough with the fiesta, so at the moment i'm really limited to the size of car. So can't really go for the focus, when i eventually get round to moving and getting a proper drive or something i hope to then get something like the focus ST.

I ordered mine in mid march, they reckon delivery should be around august

The torque steer was the thing i was most worried about, apparently its alarming in the astra! So I waited til i saw some reviews which said it was much better in the corsa.

I've gone for flame red, with 18" V spoke alloys (which i got for free ). I didnt go with any other options, there is quite a lot as standard on it and not that many options and i wasnt really fussed with any of them. Will prob upgrade the stereo when i get it cos standard ones do my head in Most people seem to be going with the blue for this car but i really dont like the blue, and silver and black are not my colours so had to go for red really, which looks great so i dont mind.

think they look great in red Chris yeah, the astra is terrible for torque steer, i know it was mentioned on top gear, but i didnt realise how bad it was till I tried one :| (straight line speed is great mind you lol)

I think they are spot on with the Corsa though, sure it'll be great

Yeah i really haven't seen a bad review of the car yet, really can't wait. Obviously its hard having to wait so long but it really doesn't bother that much to be honest, the ST is such a great car i'm just enjoying it while i have it, and will be really sad to sell it. The Corsa has a lot to live up to

never had brake fade and i do like to think i use the brakes properly!

had the fluid boil a little and the pads glaze, but theyve always been there when wanted. spongey feeling only when back on the road, not the track... not brake fade btw.

btw st220 fronts, goodridge hoses, grooved discs, mintex pads. Just changed the fluid to decent stuff so hopefully a problem sorted.
