Pumaspeed have produced an exhaust manifold & system for the ST, the manifold has shown big gains and the complete system should show even more. On the test car with a Zetec 1.25 exhaust the produces 162bhp with the flexipipe replacement & cat back system you should see more!!! ad an induction kit and God Help yer perhaps 170 is an easy target

First systems are being produced should'nt be long before they are available

Just a thought, it seems that we could be looking at quite an increase in BHP with this engine, add an induction kit and the a chip, possibly a throttle body and it may get close to something around the 180bhp mark. Beware these engines tend to go pop at anything over 200bhp, and will the gearbox take it?
Something to think about!!!

Significant power gains on the intake side are going to be limited by the fly-by-wire throttles; very few people have the knowledge or resources to modfy these to enable big power increases; i'd reckon more than a 20bhp gain is going to be difficult without a substaintial amount of work..... hmmm.

Wake up Harry!!! were talking exhaust's, unlike the Focus ST whose exhaust was very good the flexipipe on the fiesta shrinks down to the size of a pea shooter!
If you looked at the post you would have seen just the manifold fitted to a standard 1.25 Zetec exhaust produced 162BHP with a print out as backup. So 20BHP increase should be available without much of a problem. Once superchips get to work & SCC are already looking into it you will see Fiesta ST's with atleast 170BHP.

already found a tuner in belgium that could do the job

my goal is 180bhp without a turbo and 250 with a turbo, but i think the gearbox will say "knack" with that much torque and bhp

Look in the threads anything over 200bhp and you get problems with engine reliability.

Indeed I did see you were talking exhausts, but the thread is 'BHP Increase' and i was talking about gains on the inlet side. I would definately be interested to see anyone breaking 170bhp by only changing an exhaust & airfilter, but we'll see...

Well then run on a rolling road produced 162bhp using a 1.25 ZETEC exhaust, thats like trying to suck a golf ball up a hose pipe!!!!
So to find another 8bhp from a system built for performance and a good indution kit, perhaps a Viper is not beyond reality. Using cams and chips etc may improve on that.

To be blunt the flexi pipe is crap on the ST bungs up the whole exhaust, it reminds me of my old Suzuki TS 125 had a bloody great washer in the exhaust (restricted)it would do about 65-70mph remove washer & bingo 85mph.

Look at Pumabuild & Pumaspeed one of these will break 170 very soon.

Why u say it would pop? people is tunning the duratec 2.0 focus in US far more than 200hp, what's the compression ration on Duratec St? the US Focus is at 10.0:1.

The best way to go is cosworth d-power, they don't need to reengineer anything, since the 2.3 and 2.0's are identical from heads to bottom, except deck height, and from what i have read, should make output close to the 2.3, altough you may need to rev a bit more.

If compression is higher than 10:1 then there is a problem for forced induction, 6psi boost maximum, and that's not worth it for what a turbo/supercharger kit costs, you can always lower compression, but losing power for gaining power is not smart for me.

I can't be bothered to go into detail, do some research and you will find the facts once you break 200bhp these engines start to fail,all the internals are built to be close to tolerences. to much BHP/RPM & POP Goes the engine. Duratec badged engine as found in the SVT is not a Duratec but a Zetec. The Duratec I4 is a Mazda engine.
