Is there an official list for the RS yet? Or are dealers taking deposits. Need to know if I should be doing anything official....

Not yet.

Once it is officially announced as a production model you will be able to place a deposit with any RS dealer. The waiting list will most likely be managed centrally by Ford.

Eek!
Must be more than that surely. How many was the Focus RS? 2500? Besides, they haven't even decided if they're going to build it yet (although they almost certainly will I bet).

Don't worry - there is no way they will produce only 1000. The only reason the Focus RS was released in such limited numbers was beacuse it was near the end of the model life.

If only a 1000 were to be built the breakeven cost would be astronomical.

I would expect 10,000 world wide, built at a low-volume manufacturer like Pininfarina.

Not these days mate.

Who knows with the Fiesta RS - I would be suprised if it was a full production model.

Yer Dave i think u ment... wasn't...

Can see what u mean and i really do hope it isn't a full production model as the appeal for them would be lost and they would sell just as fast as the RX8 are now and to start with they were really nice but i see 2 every time i go to college now and i dont even turn my head anymore...

When i see an RS or Racing Puma its really nice!!! I seen a Puma today :P

We will just have to sit tight and w8 for the full details, prices and specs!!!

All the overtime im doing now is going straight into the RS Jar... working 6 hours tomoz so thats a little bit more to add :P

The day i get paid its so nice to go to the Bank and get my cash out to put into the Jar!!! The rate its getting filled ill have to start changing the coppers into pounds for it all to fit!!!

Heres a pic of my Jar btw...

Maybe it doesn't look that full to u but theres 2 years of cash that will be going in to there and it will get filled up pretty fast i hope

Scotty

True, but both were financial disasters for Ford. You can have loss leaders but I don't think that either of these cars made up for their development costs even if you included purchases of lesser models made as a result of them existing. Over the past three years I'm know that for any model to be signed off they have to prove payback within a certain period. Unless this has changed I doubt that the RS will be in very limited numbers, it just wouldn't be worth it especially as the expected demand would easily be in 5 figures

The racing puma was supposed to be a run of about 2500 but they only made a 1000 because they over priced it by a country mile. £15k for a standard puma or £22k for a tweaked engine and big body work (the way the puma should have looked in the first place IMO).

For the Festa to be a success they need to price it right. Anything over about £16k and it'll be too much I think. Especially when you compare the price to rivals like the clio 172 and Pug 180.
