When my gets warm/hot it splutters intermitantly when I am going along, bit like its misfiring.
I was sitting at traffic lights the other day and the revs suddenly dropped almost to the point of cutting out then they went back up.

Anyone else get this?

There's a huge list of things that could cause that, from a duff tank of petrol to the fly by wire throttle misbehaving. Get it back to the dealer to get it sorted now mate before it manifests itself in a worse form.

my 2 mk5 fez's did this on and off, seems to be a prob when it was cold, the zs was worse. took it to the dealer and they got it on diag and found nothing but did a remap and this and that and it was ok...for a while? in experience its just one of those ford things they dont seem to have a real answer for. doh

Took it in to my dealer they said come back this afternoon and we will take a look. Went back and they put it on the machine thing which told them it had a engine misfire in cylinder 3 and said to change a coil, HT lead and plug. They did and it still has a engine misfire in cylinder 3
He thinks now it maybe eletrical, something to do with the signal that is given from the ECU to the fuel injection so they need to keep it in so the eletrictian can have a better look on Monday
I can't fault the dealership for taking a look that day and also as they didnt have a curtosy car the Service guy managed to find me an LX they use as a runabout so at least I have a car.
Fingers crossed I will get my back working on monday.

Good stuff, the worst thing is when they can't find anything and yet you know something is wrong.

When my is cold the revs do funny things so I'm gonna ask the dealer to do an ECU update when I have my 5 week check. I just hope they can do it as its annoying but I guess I could live with it.

Does anyone know if an update for the ecu is available??

They say its a injector thats gone faulty. The part has to come from the factory so wont be there untill tomorrow

Providing that solves the problem I should get it back tomorrow night. I will keep you posted.

I have nearly lost this LX they have given me on 2 roundabouts, keep forgetting I am not in my

Here's hoping that the injector will solve the problem and you get back to driving the

I know what you mean about forgetting what car ur in! I drove my mum's BMW 316ise & I swear the previous owner lowered it because I went round a roundabout (as u do *duuuhhh*) and I scraped the grey plasticy bit under the front bumper. Oopsy! Here's me forgetting how quick that car can be and how low it is. Trouble is mother was in the car with me ... I got a telling off

Ok this is now getting silly. The injector didn’t fix it
One of the service guys told me "It's either electrical or mechanical" Well I am no expert in cars but even I can work that out

They are in talks with Ford Technical as basically they don't know what’s wrong with it, all they know is it has a engine misfire in cylinder 3. I thought main dealer mechanics where ford trained etc etc

I keep saying this .... Hopefully I will get my back tomorrow

Got a call from the garage they think its the PCM. They sounded very confident so that looks promising
They need my spare key as they will need to re program the keys so they are going to send a driver to my work tomorrow to collect it.

Fingers crossed
