Hi all,

Im looking to chop in my ST against either a Civic or Auris diesel. Having tried around 20 different dealers, Ive been offered anywhere from £8000 to £9800 for my 56 ST which has 4000 miles on it.

Why do dealers all look at Glasses, and then give totally obscure quotes?

I mean, £8000 against a £15000 Auris? I physically laughed at the guy, and walked out!!

It seems no-one is willing to give good money for ST's at the mo - I might have to keep hold of her for another year or so!!!

Regards,

Andy

keep hold of it mate!

end of the day you can buy them for a little over £10500 brand new! Ford aren't going to buy them back anywhere near that cos they must be making a profit on that 10.5k. You should definitely hold on to it!

Makes sense mate -

Just fancied a change for something a bit softer riding and not so revvvvvvvy!!

It can get tiring after a while!

My wife says my driving has changed totally since owning the ST - I now go barrelling into corners to see how hard the car will grip and also overtake everything I can...Ive turned into a boy racer - Im 38!!

haha! that's the way!

Well I do a fair bit of driving for work so I have tried to limit the amount of times I push my car! Its actually nice sometimes to drive it gently! Not too boring either, still.. I can understand what you mean....

IMO I'd keep it a little longer, 38 is not that old and as it happens I was speaking to a client earlier, he's about 60 and has a focus st-3! Good going I reckon!

It'll keep you young!

If you wanted to sell you should get a better price with a private sale.

Dealers never give you the best price, especially when they are selling the car at a good price new. I simply couldn't justify buying a second hand car for £10500 when new mine was less than a grand more!

Private would be better but could be time consuming as theres a lot out there at 8500 2nd hand.

I didnt find any good ones at that price range, well not around here anyway. Even a 35k 3.5 year old one was 9k!!

im also looking into trading my 05 ST for a newer face lift model. Any ideas what any 2005, 05 plate with 19k is worth??

i said before there are plenty of 2nd hand ST's for sale, so i guess getting a decent price will be tough?

Come and sell it round here they command a good resell price. I am surprised to hear people say they lose alot of value. Suppose it depends what you paid for it originally as I am basing my summing up on the price for new now. Around here you would get £9.5k easy for one id say.

mines on one of those 3 years deals where I can either make a final payment or give the car back. best way imo, i've lost so much money over the years changing cars every 12 months
