Took car to Ford last Tuesday, they did sumat with the connection leads which they thought mended the battery light problem. On the way home it came on again. Then Weds morn it did too. So rang them back. Took it this morning and on the way there it was on 3 times, and wouldnt go off if I reved the car slightly like it did previously. They found out that there was an intermittent internal fault with the alternator. So, its having a new alternator fitted weds! Wonder whats next - new battery, new locking wheel nuts, new alternator. Might save all the parts - could make a new ST haha!

Some ST's built around mid 2006 (just before the 06 plate) had faulty alternators. Something to do with something sticking and owners had their battery lights come on & starting problems (like you) and the alternators were just replaced.
