I have been looking at getting my first car for a while now, changed my mind a few times but came back to the in the end.

I got quote from the AA for insurance last month which was £1168 on a provisional licence, when I pass my test and finally get the car will I will put my mum and dad on it as well, hopefully should bring the cost down a bit.

That insurance quote is amazing. I take it that its not for you as the main driver? On a provisional licence only you'd easily be paying double that to insure an ST, unless you're about 40 that is...

Well I left out my age to see what response I got , I am 28 but will be 29 4 days after my driving test.

Well you can't be as silly as me. Lost the back end of my Puma going 90-100mph(not really sure what speed)going round 50mph bend on motorway.

Ended up doing a 180, hit central reservation and was then stuck their facing wrong way on a blind bend on the fast lane of motorway.

Talk about lucky.

Anyway car was w/off and with money bought so every cloud has sliver lining.

I am hoping I pass first time, a number of people have said they think the ST is a bit much for a first car, but I have decided on one now and I ain't changing my mind

Well it might not be the best car for a first time driver, especially insurance wise but i can't think of a better fast car for you to get at this stage tho, its not stupidly fast at low revs so is very easy to drive and is such a good chsssis that you will have to drive pretty stupidly to get caught out!

I'm glad you didn't suggest another car as I am sold on the ST.

Regarding the insurance I don't think my quote was that bad, £1168 on a provisional licence with me being the only driver on the policy, when I get the car I will see how much it is when I put my Mum & Dad on it as well.

That was with the AA I will try other companies when I actually need the insurance.

yeah that is really good. Although i'm sure it would cost you a lot less if you went for a clapped out old renault 5! Although knowing the insurance companies probably not!
