Hey all, noticed about 3 days ago, that my st had a problem. it feels as though its struggling to breath. for example just cruising along at 70mph with foot slighty on the accelerator to keep it up to speed, it feels as though every 10-20 seconds or so i get hit by a strong wind witch slows the car, kinda like very mild engine breaking. had to drop parents to airport last night on a 80 mile run and it was happening constantly, finaly got 10miles or so from home and the engine sytem failure light popped on. started her up thismorning and the light was off. i know theres a problem and im getting it looked at, but has anyone had the same problem if you could let me know wat it is id be very grateful, because i know ill take it to the garage and theyl end up saying 'ohh we didnt notice anything' so if u could help me shed as much light on the situation so i can give them some idea id be grateful. lol we all know wat the ford garages can be like.

If the fault light came up on the dash then the fault will be saved in the ECU's memory regardless if it isnt on now.

I got the 'Engine System Failure' message yesterday morning when I turned the key. 'Bloody great' I thought, 'it would crap out just when I have to be at the doctor's in 15 minutes time...I knew I shouldn't have bought a Ford etc etc'
But I switched off and tried again and away it went. Been perfect since. Hoping it was just a glitch.

if my car ever got an engine system failure message I would get it taken to ford asap no way would i be driving around in it just in case or at the least if it didn't come back on i wud drive it to a ford center asap to make sure it was just a glitch. I think its better to be safe than sorry but you know

Yes definitely still get it checked out. The fault code for whatever happenned should be stored in the engine manangemnt system. It could just be a spurious warning, like when it came up on mine two weeks after I bought it and turned out to be just a loose wire that caused it, but best to just be on the safe side.
