Has anyone else done a major wheel spin when they are pulling off from a junction? Last night i went to pull away from a junction and the car did this massive wheel spin, dunno whether it was my driving or whether it's to do with the sheer power of the ST? Does anyone else find driving the ST quite hard? I absolutely love the power, and once it is in 5th gear i just let it fly, its just getting up into 5th that seems to be a bit hair-raising! Am dreading driving on ice if it keeps spinning like that!

First gear is very low and short, delivering huge torque to the front wheels. and you've got to take it easy on the gas. I've noticed it's especially bad in cold weather when the choke is on - I either pull out into the road like an Exocet missile or I get the famous 'ST stall'!

Clutch control is especially difficult on the Fiesta ST. It feels different to all the other cars I've driven - it's got a kind of 'all or nothing' about it.

Sorry Sam, but seconded.

You will get used to it.

Once you get used to it the more enjoyment is had.

The stiff chassis can unload the front wheel if there's a bit of cross camber and you're turning. It's easy to spin it up then. Care, care and more care, I'm afraid.

I think the general consensus is right, you ar probably used to having to floor the pedal in a slower car to get it to move - not needed in the ST.

However, I have on occasion inadvertnetly caused wheelspin, once quite recently was coming back from a friends and was trying to get home quickly and gave it too much joining a round about, was stuck on the spot and there were several pedestrians which must of though "what an idiot"

Ah well, it happens, but you will get used to it given a few weeks

I've had mine for just under a week, just had its first "fill up".

I'm only just starting to get used to the damn clutch. I went from seven years of having a diesel to a 2.0l PETROL engine and it's really hard to get used to.

Always seem to think people are staring thinking "you idiot with your revving!" and all i want to do is not sit there and stall

When I have the air con on I seem to stall it more. I have been told that it does take quite a lot of power from the engine so I should put more rev's on.

The first time I wheel spun it I had no idea how the bloody hell I'd done it. But after a few times you kinda know what your doing and learn not to put as many rev's on.

Blue with top stripes.

Not so much revving today, its in the tyre garage with two flat tyres and two dented alloys after something on the M5 took out me, a Nissan and a lorry!

Not having a good week.
