The ATB unit can only direct the torque away from a free spinning wheel. If you drop the clutch at 4000rpm (as people are suggesting is good practice for pulling away) both wheels will either spin or you'll stall the engine, quaife ATB or not.

Yes, it can help with moving the torque to the wheel with most traction, but it can't limit the torque generated by the engine..... the power has to go somewhere.

I think these are bloody good bits of gear but the idea that it can prevent wheelspin altogether is a bit far fetched considering the mechancial nature of its torque control..... still, cheaper than traction control and you get a quaife sticker on your car)

Pinkrinse..... who has the ATB for sale... I've been looking at these for a while

This is just not true Steve. If you have an "open" differential, the wheel with less grip will loose traction and as soon as this happens, it will receive ALL of the torque leaving zero torque to the better traction wheel. The result is that only one wheel will be spinning. This is exactly what an ATB or torsen diff will prevent.

Try wheelspinning any car with an open differential and you'll see that it will always leave only one tyre mark on the floor, straight line or not.

With 150 bhp and 190 Nm, which let's face it is not exactly race car performance, going through 205 low profile tires I don't think it's far fetched at all. As for traction control, well, that's really not going to help getting more power on the road, all it does is simply to remove power which cannot be transmitted. Good for safety, but not really a performance oriented feature.

Find a straight quiet road (preferably a long car park) and practice your starts! trust me 3500rpm is best start but clutch control has to be perfect! But nick i would say the Quaife is a performance enhancer because you will have a lot quicker accerleration with it and with the perfect launch will make a huge difference. My mate has got one on his saxo and he barely wheelspins in the rain at high rpm.

Yes I absolutely agree... When I mentioned "not a preformance oriented feature" I was referring to traction control... as in the electronic device that comes with the ASP.
