Is it just my car or is it a bit 'tricky'?

I drive cars for a living (well, the exciting part of it- I work in accounts a lot of the time and write about cars in my 'spare' time) and most have several gazillion horsepower and all of them without fail have a more 'jump in and drive' friendly clutch than my ST. It's very easy to stall (not that I do that often as I'm used to it) and even worse if I have the aircon on so have I got a duff one or are they are like that?

No.

Theres a post around somewhere about the ST and this.

It is tricky to get used to at first. I stalled mine three times trying to park it the first day i got it. I still have a little bit of a 'jerk' when going from first to second but im getting used to it.

I'm used to it now but when I spend a week/weekend driving something else I do find myself thinking that it is a bit of pain, the aircon seems to really make a difference.

Although I admit it's partly my fault as the other day I had been driving a car with e-Gear for a weekend and I tried to change up with the wiper stalk... strangely I stalled it...

Cheers for the link btw- I did search first but I think I must have had a filter on for more recent posts.

Has anyone noticed that the clutch seems to go further down in the MK6 Fiesta in comparison to earlier Fiesta's!!. With being a woman with little legs it is probably more noticable but it seemed to be a lot different when i jumped into my new fiesta from my old one !!

I did find the clutch a little `tricky` when I first got the ST but within a month I had pretty much mastered it. In stop start traffic it can jolt forward sometimes but otherwise fine. My mate drove my ST once and said there was nothing different about the clutch, so I thought it was just me!

I read on this forum that there is a software upgrade that sorts out the clutch problem.

When i took mine back and they fiddled with my ECU it was a little easier to use the clutch, however i still keep doing the 'jolt' in traffic and when going from 1st to 2nd sometimes.

I used to stall quite often, just thought it was me until i got the ECU updated last year, never stalled it since and i think the gear changes are a lot smoother too!
