Can anyone advise me? i have a 05 st 150,done 14000 miles the car runs fine ect, but when coming to standstill the rpm is slow to settle at 750 rpm where it should be,it likes to firstly to go to about 1250 rpm then go down to 750 then after 30 seconds blip up to 1250 then finally settling at 750, which is very embarrassing when trying to park or maneuver.I have taken to car to local ford dealer and they say there is no fault code when plugged into diagnostic check.
Is this normal for a ford,as i have had many other makes of car but never had this problem. My thought is could this be the idle control valve, bearing in mind when in motion the car behaves fine???

Hi rodman.

Sounds like the anti-stall to me and the ST's revs don't drop that quickly anyway. Does sound a little odd that after 30 seconds your idle goes up then down. Its not due to the power steering is it?

That's the emissions system trying to correct itself all the time.
Annoying but normal I'm afraid.
Some do it more than others as it's to do with how good the ingition is working and the injectors and also how good the cat is.
Magnecor leads sort it a little bit and also make sure the car is run on decent fuel (BP/Shell) and not cheap Supermarket stuff.
Super/V-Power etc makes no difference (in fact on mine it's worse, they run richer on Super).
Make sure your air filter is nice and clean as well, they are very small on the ST and get dirty very quickly. (You'll need a Torx 25 bit to remove the top cover of the airbox)

Hope this helps
