Popped into my local dealers yesterday as i was getting the awful seat latch replaced...

As i was waiting the salesman who sold me my 06 ST came over and we were chatting and i mentioned that i would consider getting the new-shape Fiesta ST, which i thought was coming out next year.

But he reckons Ford will push for a September 2008 launch, dont ask why but that was his view.

He then said if you give me a ring i'll get you some good deals, to which i just smirked.

If i can afford it then i may consider it but will deffo shop around a bit more next time!!

What do you guys think, is sept possible?

There's no way Ford will release the ST this year. Ford will be spending many millions in selling and marketing their new basic Fiesta, so they certainly won't complicate this process by then bringing out the ST. Besides, I doubt the ST's body and technical design will have been fully finished much before the very end of the year.

They are full of tripe at times but the only reason he mentioned it was because i told him i was interested in the new design and he probably saw a future deal coming his way!! (or so he thought).

So don't see why he would lie about the launch date, he didn't say it was dead cert only that he saw "no sense" in delaying into 2009. And that they, or Ford reckon it will be September before you can get your hands on one.

Who knows, im trying to save for a mortgage/moving out so im probably not going to be his best customer lol.

But do miss my beast...feel lost without it.

Ford may shock us, but I'd be very surprised if it came out in September at the same time as the rest of the new Fiesta range. From anything that has been said in the past, Ford have said it would be "soon" afterwards, but that has always been taken to mean sometime next year ie. spring/summer 2009. I'd imagine that they'd want to market the main Fiesta range, and then market the top model separately, although it could be the case that as with the Focus ST it's unveiled to the press around the same time as the main models go on sale.

The only reason I can think why they possibly would put it on sale at the same time is that they would want to use the ST as a marketing tool for the rest of the range.

Ultimately we're all just in the same boat of guessing at the moment, and will just have to see what happens.
