I think generally that all ford really are is a waste of time and in most cases money too, when you can get things quicker and cheaper elsewhere

if people want one really bad, i could sort out getting some from ford, then posting them out, but it may take a while as ive got lots of things on at the minute. think im just going to get in a bidding war on the one on ebay for myself, so if anyone on here wants to go against me, im ready for you

I will ask my dealer tomorrow as the parts person is a mate of mine, i bought a few and never bothered with one for my car due to the car being under warranty, they sold like hotcakes abroad, sold them for £150 each. If he cant get me one for next day then there must be a shortage of them.

Contact these guys: http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/atfirstparts/ They supply the Ford Dealers and are owned by Ford. I have been there and the warehouse is massive. They sell any Ford part cheaper than the dealers apparently.

what is the benefit of this? does it increase power? if so how much? or does it just make the car run better and give better breathing etc?

I don't trust that eBay one. Looks shabby
I paid a lot of money for mine and it was worth it to get a brand new one. It's not about power, it's about fixing all the breathing issues the has!
It even sorted out my air to fuel ratio so my engine light turned off!
Great bit of kit. I recommend to all tuners!
Once fitted the revs settle down after you run it in!

Does sorting out the breathing difficulties the ST have increase the engine life in any way?

I was selling them to lads overseas, no good here cos they are only about £100 from ford, must have been hard to get abroad.

Would probably be cheaper than that. I used to get 50% off everything until I signed the car over to myself... for insurance / ownership purposes.

Ford employees cannot do that sort of thing anyway now as it's all audited and they lose their jobs... it's very strict now... have to show employee passes along with vehicle log book. If too many parts are ordered then the person gets asked why.

Got a message from Ford today, my TB had arrived, 1 week later then expected, 11 days after i put in the order

Fitting took me 5-10 mins (which includes getting the tools), easiest mod i've done so far.

The new one

The old one still fitted

New one fitted

It controls the amount of air that enters the engine. The ECU will open or close the flap depending on how much you press down the accelerator and also based on other information it recieves from other sensors. Because this is 5mm bigger, it should allow more air into the engine, however the ECU may adjust this by making the air gap smaller.

so air from the throttle body is then transferred to the pistons?

So is the standard size 70mm?

How does reducing the size of the throttle body help?

(This is a genuine question not me trying to have a dig lol)

£2,800 fitted maybe?
They are worth a drool
Much more useable power over a charger. Together with a large bore exhaust and engine internals you could see 250bhp/270bhp easy. Pete at Jam-Sport had 297bhp with a 2.3Litre block & ITB's

cool are you fitting them yourself? is the 2.3 engine a much better engine for the st to have or is it just another avenue for mods?

I could of gone for a 2.3 ages ago but I thought why change the car so much? I'd rather push all the power from my 2.0 Nothing wrong with a 2litre!
It came with the car and it makes the car an ffs

Because this is 5mm bigger, it should allow more air into the engine, however the ECU may adjust this by making the air gap smaller.

However, unfortunately the ST engine is already over throttled (as are most Ford gas engines these days) - therefore you will not get any more air into the engine. You will just reach the maximum air flow value with less pedal travel than before. The ECU will not know you have fitted a bigger throttle so depending on how the software works one of two things will happen:

1) The throttle will move with the pedal in the same way it did with the old smaller one, the MAF sensor will see the increased air flow for a given pedal position and increase the fueling appropriately until the full load torque limit is reached for that operating condition and at that point the throttle will open no more - regardless of pedal position. The effect of this is that your car may feel more 'responsive' but this is only because you have to move the pedal less to get the same performance. Maximum torque will not change.

2) The software's pedal map (which equates a pedal position to a torque demand or fuel quantity) will just move the new bigger throttle body to a smaller opening than it did with the old one to get the same torque requested by the pedal as before. Again it will only continue opening it until the full load limit is reached. The effect of this is that it will not feel any different!

This is also how the engine limits it's output in 1st and 2nd gears - it just shuts the throttle a bit.

I have been told by someone running an ST engine on a dyno that fitting the bigger throttle body makes no difference to peak power - the manifold is a bigger restriction.

i fitted mine today worked great, seemed louder induction noise, n a little more throttle response as in it seems to rev higher with less throttle put on.

i also fitted my decat today and all i can say is its sounds soo good and pops and bangs so much!!!

but my mil light is still off...
