Hi guys!

I've got a very strange problem with the and was hoping there's an easy fix for it..

I've never read of anyone else encountering the same issue before but ive been away from the forum for a while so maybe its has happened to someone before.

Any way here goes....

Basically when I turn the lights on, the dash does not light up at all nor does the little symbol that tells you visually that your side lights are on and same goes for the head lights symbol.

However the main beam, fog light and rear all light up and all the other symbols such as hand break etc work ok.

The worst part is when driving at night as the whole dash is not lit I cant see my speedo etc

I have done the dash test by holding the button on the indicator stalk and all the symbols light up fine so i cant even say and LED/bulb has gone, i really have no idea what's happened even when the radio is turned on only the display lights up not of the buttons are lit either

Any one got any ideas???? I may try disconnecting the battery see if that makes any difference but failing that im stuck...

Definitely try disconnecting the battery before you do anything else, I had a problem where my stereo wouldn't turn on at all but after DCing the battery for a couple of minutes it was fine again. Failing that, I assume you've checked all the fuses etc?

Definitely a fuse, fusebox is behind the glovebox.

Whenever you get something electrical in a car not working or not working properly, always check the fuses first.

How about this then when I brake my headlight indicator on the dashboard lights up! All the other lights and stuff work perfectly fine only seems to have started doing it since I went for led brake light bulbs

Look at the side of the fuse and there will be a continous bit of wire

Left is blown
Right is not

Sounds like the bulbs might be in the wrong way or there's an earth fault could just be that the circuitry in the LED is making the car think the sidelights are on when you brake.

Just pop into your local corner car shop and pick up a fuse to replace it Ford will charge you more money to sort it

They won't be in the wrong way they're exactly the same as normal bulbs except for the bulbs their selves. I'm thinking a dodgy earth may be the problem

Right 80p for a new fuse replaced it still no joy.

I checked the fuses again and another had gone went to buy another fuse I asked for 2 as one looked dodgey gave me 3 for 2 quid tried again turned the lights on heard a pop it had gone tried again popped again so god knows what's wrong.

Any ideas or do I just ask ford tomorrow and probably end up pants down or might not mention it and go to my local garage!

Cheers
