I would not take the risk at driving it knowing a part from the brakes is not fitted. Call a tow truck, get it taken to a Ford dealership and tell them exactly what you were doing and how the clip came to be removed... It's your safest move...

its not a "functional" part of the brake, it simply stops noise and vibration by absorbing it.

and yes it is a ***** of a part to re fit if slightly distorted in the removal or even attempts to put it back on.

Cheers for the advise,as you say i find it impossible to replace it,probably bent the little idiot trying, the paint looked great, then i went and scratched it all trying to refit the spring clip,is it safe to drive without it fitted ?

If it's the clip I'm thinking of then it holds the brake pads in place, definately DO NOT drive without it in place.
They are fairly tough clips but with a little persuasion and a got set of pliers the will go back into place. You are probably getting to the point where you think the clip will snap if you pull it any further, but have faith, it will go back into place.

Forgot to mention the guy a quick fit said that there wasnt really a danger of not fitting it as all the pads etc are bolted in,doent really know its full purpose.

Hats off to the Quick Fit man because their fitting is normally quick, but their prices are allways quicker .
